Photo session

I have a photog coming to the house this Saturday.  Yes, I'd love to have something cool outdoors, but since it's January in Philly, we're confined to our house.

These are Caroline's first professional pictures and I'm really not sure what I'm supposed to dress her in.  I'm assuming that it's fine to change her a couple of times, right?  I was thinking of a cute casual outfit (maybe what I had her in the Mommy Monday pic) and then 2 dresses.  I guess the Christmas one is probably too holiday, but I have a sweater dress that I had her in for Thanksgiving.  Also I have a white fancy dress that she changed into after her Christening, but should I try to go for more color?

Also, should I have anything ready at the house to use?  Not exactly props, but should I have areas set up or anything or just go with whatever the photog suggests?

Why am I just trying to get this figured out now!!  Of course I have no clue what me & Bri are wearing yet either, but I'm trying to get Caroline figured out first and then we can try to coordinate around her.

Re: Photo session

  • I just did a session last weekend with an 8month old.

the mom definitely changed her outfit a couple times, but I encouraged it. I wouldn't do any more than 3 outfits though. I did some shots of  her in various places at their house-in front of their fireplace, on their bay window sill, in a chair. We also took her outside & plopped her in the snow in her snowsuit-as it had just snowed that night.

I love putting kids into baskets & stuff, but hopefully your photog will bring some props. I usually do. I usually scout around the house a little before I start too to see what I have to work with. Don't think about it too much. Let the photog do their job! Wink
