Two Under 2

Do we need a changing table?

My dd is currently 15 months old and I've used her changing table since we had her  (I love that I don't have to bend over to change her) and she's small enough that she'll fit on it for a long time still.    She'll be about 21 months when the new LO arrives and I'm trying to decide if we should buy another changing table or make due until DD1 is potty-trained.  I'm trying to save money where I can, but I also want to make things as easy as possible with 2 LO's!

  • I would make due with what you have until she potty trains.  By 21 months, my oldest was fighting diaper changes on the changing table anyways.  We ended up just getting another changing pad and setting up an area on her floor in her room until she started potty training.  We kept the dresser that was used as a changing table in DD#2 room.

  • I would not get another table. I started having to get on the floor with DS when he was about 22 months, mostly because he squirmed like crazy and was too big. He likes it that way because he can reach his toys. But, you can't change both diapers at once, so there shouldn't be a need for the 2nd table.
  • We have space outside their rooms so I moved it outside so that we could share it.  It has worked well for us.

  • You probably don't need another one. We have one upstairs in DS's room, but we always use his changing pad on the floor downstairs where we spend most of our days.

  • Good to know that DD will probably be to wiggly to use the changing table by the time the  new LO arrives!  I think we'll save the money and move DD's table into the new LO's room.

  • We did not get another changing table.. We've been using the changing table part of the PNP with DS, and will move DD's changing table to DS's room in the near future and just use the changing pad on the floor with DD.. We're just starting potty-training with her..
