Where to Live in Little Rock

Hi Ladies- Just wanted to send this question out there...I will be moving to Little Rock in June with MH and little one and I was wondering if anyone had pointers for where to look in terms of housing.  We will only be there for a year so we would like to either rent a house or apartment/condo and if it helps, my husband will be working at UAMS.  Thanks in advance for any tips!

Re: Where to Live in Little Rock

  • you may want to look at the maumelle area- it is right outside of little rock and a very safe community.

in little rock you may want to look at the hilcrest/stiff station area if he is working at uams.  those are really neat/safe areas as well.  hope that helps!   i can message you my email if you need more information.

  • Thanks for the tips!  Having only visited Little Rock once I'm pretty clueless.  I'll check those areas out and PM you if I have more questions : )

  • happy to help!

we have lived in the stiff station part of little rock- probably a mile from uams.  very neat part of little rock- close to shops, restuarants, more of a hip/trendy good part of the city.  we recently bought in maumelle, which is more of a suburb of little rock and only about ten to fifteen minutes away.

  • Hillcrest will be pricey.  If you like a community feel, then you will get it there, but be ready to pay for it!  The same can be said for the Heights area if someone suggests it.

Whatever you do, stay NORTH of I-630.  Stay West of I-30.

You might want to check out the housing that is just west of University Avenue (west of Park Plaza mall and the new Target).

Maumelle is a good option too.

If you want more info, you can contact me.  I am not a realtor or connected to one...just someone trying to help.  I was clueless when I moved here...so I know how that feels and always try to help new residents out when I can!
