difference between spit up & throw up?

How can tell when she's throwing up? She's ebf and she's spitting up non-stop for the last 5-7 minutes and it looks like ricotta cheese with mucous.?

    When Kailey spits up it just looks like bm...when she throws up, I'd describe it just as you did...at least that's how I determine the difference.  She's only thrown up a couple times, but she spits up after every couple feedings.

    I'd describe throw up as "chunky" and spit up as not. Also, at least with my DS, spit up generally comes up without a gag and it's almost like he doesnt even notice he's doing it. When he vomits, on the other hand, it comes out in waves and he gags and cries. My pedi said that sometimes when a little spit up comes up it can trigger the gag reflex and cause him to vomit instead. Like pp, he spits up a few times after each feeding, but only throws up maybe once a week. HTH.

    If she threw up you would know it.  If you have to ask then it's just spit up.  LOL  My DD has thrown up all over me before and my clothes were soaked and I would have to clean the carpet below me as well.
