Update on my DH if anyone's curious...

He went to an actual physiotherapist today who recognized immediately that he has a severely misaligned spine and pelvis! (I told him this yesterday though, it looks like he has scholiosis- which is the first thing she asked him, funny enough!) His spine is not sitting in his pelvis the way it should, and his one leg socket was thrown out a little making one leg longer than the other, and his shoulders are obviously uneven because of his curvature. He has to do some specific exercises daily to loosen certain ligaments and tighten others, and is taking hardcore pain relievers.

So ladies... be aware of the dangers that come with changing a cat litter box, LOL.

Re: Update on my DH if anyone's curious...

  • My sympathies to your hubby. I have minor scholosis on my right side and there are days it has me crying.  A great chiropractor can be a life saver sometimes.

  • Yeah for the PT I love it when we can fix people better than the docs :)  So glad your hubbie was able to get some relief.

I feel his pain though had the same thing happen before I got pregnant after lifting a patient at the hospital and it was horrible.   Hope he starts to feel better soon.  Did they give him some meds for relief at least (ie muscle relaxer or pain killer) that definitely helped me along with ice initially progressing to heat after a few days.

OMG, his medicines on his nightstand are:

    ibuprofen 800mg

    vicodin 5/500

    valium 5mg

    flexerol 10mg

    tylenol 500mg

That's a LOT considering DH won't even take a piddly Tylenol when he has a headache! He takes the ibu.&tylenol during the day for work, and when he gets off (they let him off at 11am this morning) he can have a valium, vicodin, and ibu. And at nighttime, a flexerol, tylenol, and ibu. It's really obvious he needs an adjustment. After hearing the report his physio gave to him this morning, I FINALLY feel like someone's taking care of him. The doctors made it seem like it was ONLY muscle problems, and I KNEW that wasn't it. I wasn't satisfied with that answer, and when he told me all she said I was thrilled because I knew he was finally getting proper treatment.

  • I'm glad to hear he was able to get a real diagnosis.  I had surgery for scoliosis 18+ yrs ago.  It was pretty serious surgery back then but I know that it's not such a big deal anymore as they've made big advancements in that area.  But still, hopefully your DH won't get to that point.  Is he going to go to physical therapy?  I've done it two or three times over the years for various problems and while doctors who've prescribed it for me are always skeptical, it's always been tremendously helpful for me.
  • Yes, he's scheduled for PT for the next 2 wks. He's never had scholiosis in his life nor anyone in his family, but his back looks like he's had it all his life. At the next appointment she's going to use the TENS machine on his back first, massage his back, do some exercises, and then try to adjust him. It'll be like that for the first week of appointments and the following week will be all exercises and the TENS only. He tried doing one of the exercises here at home and said it hurt him more, but when he stood up I noticed his hips did look more even that what they were. So, we're on the right track- which is exciting to me!

I can't have no broken man as my labor coach! He needs to be able to stand up and help me.

I will say when my back was out of place some of the exercises hurt initially to shift things back into place but then in the long run felt SOOO much better.  And the tens should help as long as he's not weirded out by it/tenses up during it. (It can be a weird sensation.)  Hey and if it works for him you guys may want to check and see if his insurance would rent him one for temporary home use for pain control. Some people like them more than meds plus you don't have the drowsy side effects.

  • We're military. They won't even authorize him to see a chiro, they have his need to control every aspect of servicemenber's lives. They told him if he needs a TENS machine it'll be under their care and he could 'hurt himself' with it. :/Controlling twatmonkeys. He's rather use this machine than take a billion pills, but oh well. It's their way or no way at all.

  • Well Tiffany I'm still keeping you both in my prayers. So glad he finally saw the light getting some other help. If only they'd listen to us to begin with. I sometimes wonder if they just like being in pain so they can just not listen to us. To bad the services don't at least get the best care available for our troops. That?s the real travesty! Glad to hear he?s at least going in the right direction - getting the help he needs. I pray the TENS machine works for him. GL

Oh! BTW hope you got the one about the snow cream - I know your kids will like it if you ever get a chance to make some.
