North Carolina Babies

WWYD

I'll try and keep this short. I have been around and around on what to do and I just can't seem to come to a good conclusion that makes sense.

We are moving Keira to a new room in the next few weeks. She is going to be keeping her crib for right now. She didn't STTN until she was 16 months old and we are not interested in messing with what is working now. Fingers crossed she will be ready for a big bed when the baby is ready to move from our room to the nursery so we won't need to get another crib. But if we have to we have to.

The issue is the dresser. The furniture I want is THIS set. Rumor has it the white wash finish we want is being discontinued. All coordinating pieces (dresser, shelves, etc.) are already not available. I found a white wash dresser that will work online but it's not my favorite.

Second runner up on the furniture is somewhat similar, but all in white. It too is rumored to be on its way out and the dimensions are larger and will not fit as well in the room. In fact, it will be tight.  No one can tell me for sure when they expect either set to go. Any white dresser will work with this one--plus the one that coordinates is still available.

To me, it makes the most sense to get a dresser that will match her big bed. If I go with the white wash and then the bed becomes unavailable, I'm screwed. If I go with a plain white one and I can still get the bed we really want it will not match.

Buying all the furniture right now is not an option. If we move Keira's current dresser to her room the baby will not have one. Both girls need a dresser so I'm stuck. Thoughts? WWYD?

Re: WWYD

  • I'd be afraid to buy anything that's not in a set for fear of not being able to get the coordinating pieces. So, if it were me I would look on craigslist or the local thrift shop and find something that would work until I was able to purchase a full set. Goodluck.

  • If you are truly in love with that first set, wait for it. I'd go get a cheap $50 dresser from Target to hold over till you believe she's ready for the big bed. Maybe by then, they'll come out with a new, similar set. That's what I'd do. I'd also try craigslist.
  • I'd honestly hold out on buying the dresser to go with the furniture u want to buy cuz i know my luck it would end up being discontinued after i spent a good bit of money on the dresser i really wanted to match and then couldn't. i'd either get something basic to get you through till the girls get the bigger bedroom set. U could always restain or paint a cute color to match her decor to liven up a basic dresser.
