cosco scenera ?

I got this seat for my mom's car and had DS in it the other day for the first time. It was super easy to insall and I like it, but when I put DS in it there was something that seemed off. The clip the is in the crotch area ( where the shoulder straps clip into) is really far back...almost like DS is sitting on it and i had to pull it out but it was still really far back under his butt. Is there a different setting or something for this crotch strap...am i doing something wrong? thanks!

  • I also noticed that the crotch strap is back far.  There's no way to adjust it either.  I hate the Scenera.  I wish I would have purchased something a little better/easier to use, though I'm sure it's just as safe.

wait ! I just googled and found out that there are 3 crotch strap positions..it's supposed to be adjustable from the back of the seat. This will be awesome if it works!!

  • It does have two settings. Mine came with the strap threaded to closer to the crotch one. I just removed it and rethreaded it. Its still sort of tight in, but not nearly as bad.

  • Yep, you just have to rethread the bottom strap.  We have it as our 2nd carseat and I really like it.  Super easy to install!

Yep this. It's much better once you rethread it.

I just checked it and yep there are three. I thought it was two. Anyways, ours is the furthest out one. It does seem a little tight still, so I can't imagine how tight the other two are.

BTW, I agree these seat is a PITA. Its our back up for DHs car. Its difficult to adjust and the button that releases the straps always gets stuck down and we have to unstick it with a butter knife. Also, its short shelled and DD just outgrew it for RF. Its says 36 in, but DD was 34 1/4 a couple weeks ago and was an inch from the top already. Granted, she has a long torso. I turned her FF because I couldn't afford two (DHs and for my moms car) new seats.

  • I'm pretty sure it adjusts. I think there's 3 didfferent notches. I remember in the instruction manual that it is supposed to be farther back for rear facing and farther infront for forward facing. Look at the manual and double check

Wow, I guess I need to take a better look at the seat!

Maybe that will help.  I still think it is a nightmare to get my LO in there though - I feel like I can't pull the straps tight enough without pulling a muscle!

  • <--- I HATE the Scenera.  I have the hardest time getting it installed tight enough- I basically have to go to the fire station to have it installed everytime I have to take it out for something.  I ended up just eating the money  and getting a new seat, this is now just an extra seat in case of an emergency.
  • I hate the Scenera. The straps suck on mine. They are always hard to tighten.
