    we went with the 65.  I figure we will need a booster of some kind in the very distant future.  I can't see using a regular car seat when they are that big.  We LOVE ours...

    The 80 rear faces longer. Look into extended rear facing.

    We already practice ERF.  The weight limit is a difference of five pounds.

    I would go with the 65.  The Radian seem narrow in the seat and shoulders, I can't imagine a kid between 65 and 80 lbs being comfortable in it.   The 5 lbs difference in the rear facing weight limit (40 vs 35 I think it is?) wouldn't matter to me and I do intend to keep DS rear facing at least until he's two. 
    My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!

    I think unless you have a heavy child the 65 is fine.  DS was RF until a little over 3 in the 65 and could have stayed a little longer based on weight.  He is 5 and still fits comfortably in the 65.  We love it.
