Moby Wrap vs. Baby Bjorn

Anyone have a preference of one over the other?  They both look great and seem to have gotten great reviews, but I'm not sure which one I should put on the registry...?  We're sending out our registry details soon and this is the last item I need to add to our list.

Thanks ladies!!

Re: Moby Wrap vs. Baby Bjorn

  • I am actually registering for a Moby and an Ergo. To me they serve different purposes, but I'm sure a 2+ mommy could answer this better for you.

  • I didnt like the Bjorn, my neice has the Moby wrap and she loves it.  I didnt like it because I didnt think it would be good for DH, the Ergo seems best suited to fit my DHs body buildt.

  • I had both but never used the Bjorn since it just wasn't nearly as comfortable for us. I loved the Moby and also used Mei Tai carriers when DS was smaller. As he got older I bought an Ergo and could carry him well after he was 2 years old.

Personally I would skip the Bjorn altogether.

  • I hated the Bjorn. It hurt my back so much I could not use it. I have chronic back problems, and the Moby was fantastic. I absolutely recommend the Moby.
  • I've heard the Bjorn wrecks your back... that either the Ergo or Beco are better choices for an outdoor type carrier. To have baby super close and more snuggly indoors, the Moby Wrap is a closer fit.

  • DH doesn't have a Bjorn, but the same style carrier. I tried it a time or two and I was glad I never went out of the house with it. It was so uncomfortable, the straps dug into my shoulders. I loved my Moby. I could do different holds with it and having the fabric stretched over your shoulders and the weight distributed was very comfortable.

  • We registered for both.  Bjorn for DH, Moby for me.

  • The Bjorn is such a back killer. Once your baby reaches 15 lbs, you won't want to wear it.

The Moby is GREAT for newborns - and on to 9 months, the Ergo is fab for 6 mos to 2 years of so.

  • At the advice of a couple of good friends, I took the Bjorn off our registry and added the Ergo and two Moby wraps (they both suggested two, since diaper blow outs can take one out of the rotation until it's been washed and dried.)
  • I love my Ergo, but will be using a Baby K'Tan for the early months. A friend recently bought one and LOVES it. It is very similar to the Moby and other wraps, but you don't have a long piece of fabric you have to wrap and re-wrap each use. I have the Ultimate Baby Wrap from DS and won't be using it this time.

  • I swear by my combo of my Moby and my Beco (same idea as an Ergo).

  • We registered for both the Moby and the Ergo. My reasoning for both was that the Moby is good for when they are little and the Ergo is for when they get bigger.

  • We received a Baby Bjorn from a friend (she used it but is done having babies now) and registered for the Moby. I like the Moby better, but DH likes the Bjorn. Per the info in this thread, we might add an Ergo to the registry for him. Or just wait and see and buy one ourselves if need be.
