S had her 12 month appointment on Monday and it went really well! She is 18 lbs and 29 inches long, so 25% for weight and 75% for height. Her head circumference is 44 cm - they didn't tell me what percentile that is, so I'll just assume it is good.
We think S is lactose intolerant, so the pedi wanted us to go slow on introducing dairy. We got the go ahead to try adult yogurt on her; and if that goes well, then regular milk in about 2 weeks. We were told to stay away from peanut butter, bananas, and shelled fish until she was 2.
On the flip side - the pedi was concerned about one of her teeth and how it was shaped, so I now need to schedule an appointment with a pediatric dentist to have them take a look at it. Lovely - so between researching a new dermatologist, I get to call the insurance to see if we can see a dentist as well. The pedi could tell I was excited about this one - lol.
Re: 12 month appt stats - S doing well
Oooh... a tall girl? They sound like perfect stats. Sorry about the tooth issue. Hope they look at it and tell you not to worry.
Bananas? Really? I never heard that before. Sydney loves bananas so much, I'm afraid she might be half girl, half monkey
Good job S!
L has a good 4 pounds on her and he wont hit his year for another couple weeks!
I'm glad her appointment went well. I'm with Dana - why no bananas? Do you have food allergies in your family?
S is a peanut compared to R. When I took R in on 12/20 for her flu shot booster (she was 7 months and 4 days) she was 20lbs even. I picked her up last night and swore she is even heavier now. And DH and I tried to measure her last night, we think she is about 29 inches too. Holy moly I have a big baby.
Good job Mama - and happy birthday Blueberry! She is such a little doll!
And the banana thing is new to me as well - but if she is prone to allergies, I understand all the other restrictions.
I know - bananas, really? This one shocked us. We gave her a mashed up banana at about 7 months and she reacted oddly. She stayed up 1/2 of the night and was really hyper. We didn't think anything of it, but mentioned what happed to her doctor at her next appointment since was the only food reaction we had seen so far (besides dairy). Our pedi said that her reaction could be indicative of a food allergy and we should stay away from bananas for six months just to be sure. On top of that, people that are allergic to bananas could have a tendency to be allergic to laytex, so we are to keep all laytex away from her. Once she turns 2, our pedi will have us try a banana again and see what happens.
If you research banana allergies, I guess there are two different strains of allergies. If I remember correctly, one strain is also allergic to kiwis and avocados. My SO's niece is allergic to kiwi, so we think this is coming from that side of the family.
