I know the chances of me going into labor are very slim, I've still got a long way to go... but I was early (37weeks) last time and I just got this scared feeling about it happening tonight. We are supposed to get 2 feet of snow and the hospital is 40 minutes away with no traffic in good weather conditions.
Ugh, someone please tell me I am being totally irrational for worrying!
Re: Snow storm- scared of labor
This happened to me on 12.28... we had about 26 inches on the ground and there were no plows. I was having ctx all day and held off bc of the snow... but I told DH to clean the car and make a track just in case earlier that day. My water broke at 9pm and by 11:30pm we got to the hospital safely. Don't worry about it too much, they might cause contractions! LO will decide, just be calm and try not to think about it. Things will work out!
It's OK don't stress! Just think of it as any other normal day. Would you be worried at 37 weeks if it was sunny outside? No. But even though you shouldn't be worried, maybe have a plan together in case you do need to get to the hospital. Make sure the car is full of gas, and maybe leave a lot sooner than you would if there wasn't snow on the ground. If anything, you can probably call for an ambulance/police escort to help you out.
Owen Anders: labor (natural onset), failed VBAC, emergency c/s.
I'm having the same concern, but I'm due on Friday and my dr said I'll probably go into labor any day now.
As early as you are, you'll be just fine. Don't worry!
Try to relax!
If you go into labor, it will still take awhile so despite the snow, I know you'll get there!
I live in St Paul MN and we've had record snow - 33.4 inches since December and that was back from NYE..I don't know what it is and it has snowed several times since then! I know we're supposed to be 'prepared' but even in MNsnowta - it's been ridiculous. I'm 38.5 weeks -pregnant with my first, and DH plows in the winter. I'm just trying to take one day at a time -and I have confidence we'll make it there! I have faith in you guys too!
I'm in CT too. I think you'll be totally fine.
Remember the winter that the DC area had last year? My parents got 55 inches of snow in 10 days. My friend delivered in the days between two HUGE 2-3 feet snowstorms. It will all work out.
