I'm big into scrapbooking and started one for pictures while I was pregnant. I'm only halfway done and DS is already 3 months! It is so time consuming and now that DS is here, I don't have the time that's required to make a really nice scrapbook. I barely have time to fill out his baby book that I ended up buying. I would say that down the road I might be able to make one for him of his first year, but at this rate it probably won't be until he's school age haha!
Have you seen the Shutterfly template for their photo book? It's set-up like a baby book, but you have a little more flexibility with what you want to include.
I recommend keeping it simple, whatever you decide to do. Like pp- I barely have time to keep up with the baby book I bought

I'm a little over-achieving. I have a traditional baby book (got it at BRU, but they have it at BBB), doing a scrapbook (bought at Archivers), and I do books on Shutterfly every few months.
With scrapbooking, it's hard to keep up with a baby, just FYI. I let a lot of stuff pile up and then I have to take a full day of me time to get the book in order. You definitely want to keep it simple. Honestly, of the 3 I do, the traditional baby book and the shutterfly books are the easiest. Just a tip, keep a pen and paper handy so you can jot down the dates & milestones and then transfer into whatever book you choose to do. That way you won't forget and you don't have to drop everything to run to the book to update it.
Have you checked on etsy? I didn't like any of the ones I saw in stores, but was able to find a few I really liked on etsy. If you're interested, I can find the link for you.
Also, Sheila - you and your organizational over achieving skills can bite me.

I have a baby book that we got at Pottery Barn Kids Outlet. I love it. It's super easy to jot things in it.
I am also an avid scrapbooker so I'm doing a real scrapbook too with lots of photos, ID bracelets from hospital, first foot prints, etc.
Just a note- make sure you get a newspaper or two from the day LO is born. It will be nice to be able to see major events happening locally, nationally, and globaly. I jotted some of the major events down in P's book but I also kept the front page of the newspaper to put in a pocket at the back of the book.
The one I got for Owen is from Etsy and it would probably meet what you are looking for. It is also a photo album. I absolutely adore it.... however being the terrible mom I am I have not updated it in like 6 months.
They are pricy.... so if you are looking for a cheaper option, don't click this link. I thought DH was going to kill me when I bought it haha. Although I think I would have spent more if I bought an album and scrapbook supplies. I like to tell myself that at least!
Thanks ladies - I think I'll go the Etsy route - it seems to make the most sense. I found three sellers on there that I'm debating between now...haha of course!
Tarah - I have one from etsy from rubylove or something like that I believe. I love it.
I make sure I keep it on my nightstand and update it every week. I haven't missed a thing yet. Just slow on actually putting pictures in it but that is b/c I have a photo album that is updated.

My biggest advice is, whatever you get, update it once a week or you will regret it!
That's the one we have!
