Advice on how to find a sitter...help!

Hi Ladies,

 My husband and I are fairly new to K.C (just north of the river) and we have 7-week old.  How do I go about finding a sitter for the rare nights that we would like a mommy-daddy dinner out?  Any advice on where I should look or who I should ask (dr's office? or what???)

 I feel super anxiety ridden just leaving him with someone without getting a referral or rec. and we don't have family close enough to babysit but I know eventually we will need to find someone and I have no idea where to start.

    Welcome to the area! Do you or DH have co-workers or friends with kids? If so, I would ask them who they use. I think the best people come from personal references. Good luck!

    Ask neighbors who also have children who they use, coworkers, people from chuch. We had a lot of luck using care.com when we needed someone on a more regular basis. We interviewed several people, had them come to the house to meet the girls and see how they are with them before leaving them alone. Good luck.
