Pediatrician recs at Kaiser Santa Clara/Campbell?

The Bump pregnancy checklist says I'm supposed to be interviewing pediatricians at this point. I feel a little weird about that (ok, a lot) and I'd much rather take recommendations from other moms as opposed to "interviewing."

If you see a ped at Kaiser Santa Clara or Campbell, do you recommend him/her? What do you like or dislike about him/her?

We see Dr. Jean Gruver at Kaiser Santa Clara and I like her. We used to see Dr. Cynthia Shen and while she was nice enough, she did a few things I did NOT like, so we switched to Dr. Gruver.

Each Kaiser seems to have different policies about interviewing/selecting pediatricians before the baby is born. KSC does not do interviews as far as I know, and you have to wait until after the baby is born and assigned a Kaiser number to select her pediatrician, which kind of sucks since only a couple are accepting new patients at any given time. But even if you end up with one you don't like, you can switch at any time. We had chosen Dr. Gruver before Kyva was born but she wasn't accepting new patients until K was a few months old.

Wee see Dr. Keith Fabisiak (pronounced Fa bish ik) at Campbell and have disliked most of the people we've seen when he wasn't available. He is calm, very knowledgable, tries to calm rather than inflame parental concerns, but also takes serious things seriously.

I have loved about 80% of his advice (the 20% being standard KP advice/handouts to CIO and do timeouts which aren't part of the parenting aresenal we are using). We lucked out and he was available for new patients the month DS was born and we've been with him ever since.

Good info- I asked my ob/gyn yesterday and she said that I could request one or just have one assigned to me. Honestly, it doesn't really matter because (like you said) I would be ok with being assigned to one and just switching if we have a bad experience.

Good to know- I'm undecided as to whether we'll stay in Campbell or see someone at Santa Clara. But thank you!
