3rd Trimester

Hard Belly... what could it be?

I have had times in the past few months where certain spots in my tummy would get really hard. I assume it was LO that cause my tummy to get hard. For the past few days I have had times where my entire stomach gets as hard as a rock. DH gets freaked out by how hard it is. It is uncomfortable but I would'nt say it is really painful (although I like to think I have a high tolerance for pain). It usually starts at the top of my tummy and kind of rolls down to my pelvis. The entire stomach is hard... could it be LO? I don't know what to expect to feel as this is my first pregnancy!

Thanks in advance!

Your 38 weeks+, it's most likely Braxton Hicks...it's your body preparing. That seems the most logical. That's what has been happening to me. I've actually had the pre-labor contractions though (the stabbing vaginal pain ones with tummy tightening and the ones where it feels like constipation). It could be LO stretching but most lkely the BH or pre-labor contractions...just trying to find its rhythm.

  • Sounds like Braxton Hicks
  • It's either braxton hicks, or real contractions. Either way, you just wait til they come more frequently and become more intense, and voila! You're in labor :)

I do find BH contrax to be uncomfy most of the time. They make it hard for me to breathe, so that's not fun.

    Good luck!

  • I'm in agreement with everyone else.  Braxton-Hicks.  I've been having them for months.
