  • We registered for Swaddlers.  They seemed better but I really have no idea!

  • We used Swaddlers at the beginning b/c that is what the hospital had but then switched over to Seventh Generation. Never tried the Baby Dry to compare.
  • We used Swaddlers with DS and plan on using them again this time. They are softer then the baby dry, which I don't really care for. I don't know if the baby dry had them, but the Swaddlers had a color-changing strip so you could tell when they peed (which is helpful, because you can't always tell easily if it is just a little tinkle).

  • We used swaddlers and never had any problems.  They worked great.

Just a word of advice.....I wouldn't stock up too much.  Each baby reacts to diapers differently.  Just because swaddlers worked great for my DS doesn't mean that they will work great for your child.  You should definitely buy a few packs of diapers so you have some when the baby is born but don't buy too much because if swaddlers (or whatever brand you decided to buy) don't work well for your child, you'll end up with a ton of diapers that you can't use and that you wasted money on.

Pampers got rid of the pee strip! That was the only reason we were going to be using Swaddlers in the beginning. I have no idea why they did that.

  • Swaddlers for the first few months.  They were the only diapers that contained the all days poops.  BF poop is really runny.  We tried cheapies once and I never did again.  After the first few months and the poop was a little more solid we switched to baby dry.

  • Thank you for the advice. I wasn't going to get too crazy with the stocking up, but I like seeing them in the house :) We have a bunch of friends having babies as well so ill have to give some as gifts if they dont work!

  • I loved the Swaddlers.  I didn't realize they even had NB Baby Dry diapers.  Baby Dry are cheaper, but Swaddlers are softer (on the outside).  They should both work fine.  We typically use Baby Dry, now.
Don't buy too many newborn diapers.  DD grew out of them super fast - maybe a little longer than a week, even though she could still wear newborn clothes.  She was 6lbs, 10 ounces.  Like PP said, you also don't know if your LO will react badly to a certain brand diaper.  Also, people feel a certain brand works better than another for their kid.  We've had no problems with any brand, but some kids leak in certain brands since they have different fits.  Just some things to think about.

The color changing strip are one the swaddlers from the hospital and the sensitive swaddlers.  Unless they have changed them, the regular swaddlers do not have them.

    Ditto.

We tried baby dry but the swaddlers stayed put better. Baby dry slid down her butt too much. Actually, we're still using swaddlers.

The ones I used had them. I think NB and size 1 both had them. I remember going up a size and being annoyed there was no more strip, lol.

  • I know the color changing strip is on the NB and the size 1's. From what I've heard, they stopped making them with the strip, and recieved so many complaints they started again. There may be old cases out there with no strip, but all mine have had them.
  • For NB and Size 1, definitely Swaddlers!  The indicator line on the outside is so invaluable- it changes color to let you know when they are wet!  So useful when they are NBs and having to be changed 12x/day, takes a lot of the guesswork out of it!  ;)

I think when DS moved up to size 2 or 3, we made the switch to Baby Dry.

  • I also don't recommend getting too many diapers.

We found that at each size, we liked a different brand.  Newborn were Swaddlers all the way.  HATED Huggies NB but now at size 4, that is our favorite.  Size 2 - I really liked Luvs.  You just never know what you and your child are going to like.

  • We used Swaddlers when she was a newborn but that was because at that time there was no Dry Max in them.  Once they changed their product, we switched to Baby Dry diapers and we've been using those for about a year now.  I have no complaints with the Baby Dry's.

I don't rec. Huggies Snug and Dry (from Costco)  Those leaked with my daughter.  All babies are different obviously, but I think they didn't absorb as well and the pee would spill out the leg holes.  We switched back to Pampers and the problem was solved.

IMO the strip is gimmicky, just do the pinch test.  If the diaper has that gel feeling then it's wet.

  • When they are little, before crawling, I loved the Swaddlers. They were so much softer than the other diapers.

  • We're planning on using Swaddlers.  I've heard/read that Baby Dry's aren't as good.

The color change strip is still on the Swaddlers sensitive (sizes newborn,1 and 2)

  • I loved swaddlers but DD had a horrible reaction to dry max so we switched. Swaddlers are so soft....

All the other brands leaked so I found gdiapers and use baby dry at night.

Baby dry works really well (no drymax) and will hold 11-12 hours of pee at night and never leaked once!

  • IMO, Swaddlers were better in the beginning when their poop is all liquid like (don't worry, you will talk about LO's poop in detail soon lol) but they have mesh lining that absorbed it better.  We moved to Baby Dry's after DD grew out of the swaddler sizes and by then she was almost on baby food anyway (she is tiny) but we LOVE the Baby Dry's..they are the only diapers I like..although I just tried Target brand for the first time today and we will see how they held up during DD's nap when she wakes up!
