So, we are meeting with a new (our 1st) RE this week. (Quick recap: Found out last week that both of my tubes are blocked and our only option is through IVF)
I am trying to compile a list of questions to ask. I have already started a list, but was wondering if you had some suggestions - this has been a whirlwind of a week, so I am still trying to process everything and want to make sure we discuss everything. I want to pull from your wealth of knowledge!
Thanks ladies!
Re: ?s for RE office
Hey Sulfa! Thanks for responding.
By going to the RE we are getting our second opinion. Ii had the HSG done through my obgyn and we met with her on Friday. I will be taking my HSG film to my RE appt for them to look at. They might be able to see where the blockage is and fix it, but it is not probable. As far as reading the film wrong, they are pretty sure they are blocked. He tried for 30+ mins and gave me a shot of glocegan (sp?) that helps with spasms and was never able to get the dye through.
However, when we meet with the RE, she might have a different take. There is a surgery they can do to attempt to open the tubes, but if we were to get pregnant on our own, the risk of ectopic is extremely high. And the surgery is usually not very successful.
Since this is our first visit, I know we will have a range of questions and discussions. I have some surgery questions written down, but just am completely clueless about the IVF stuff.
Thanks for the link!
Thank you so much! We are thankful we got in so quickly too! It is crazy because when we called, they had just had a cancellation and it was her only appt for the month of January. It is crazy how things fall into place. I am excited to meet with her and discuss our options and develop a plan.
BTW....love your pun. I am needing to laugh these days.
Thanks. We are looking forward to meeting with the RE to see what they have to say. It does suck about the tubes, because other than that, we are golden. It's just that our sperm and eggs cannot meet up. But like my doc said, they will just bypass the tubes!
