Hi Ladies,
I am starting to look at creating a registry. I am expecting twins. Mothers of twins: what kind of playard did you buy, a regular (single), or one created for twins? I am finding babies r us has only one twin playard. I was planning on having the babies sleep in it, while they are small, in our bedroom.
Re: Play yards, need some opinions.
We got one Pack N Play with the newborn napper feature like this:

Both of mine slept in the top part for the first 5 weeks and then we transferred them to cribs.
Are you talking about a pack n play?
I think you'll find that most MoMs don't recommend the twin PNP - from what I recall the weight limit is pretty low on both the single and twin PNPs and I don't think the bassinet feature is very sturdy.
What worked great for us was an Arm's Reach Cosleeper (we have the original, but they also have a mini). I believe the weight limit is 35lbs, and it's nice and sturdy. Plus it attaches to your bed, so when you're recovering from delivering/c-section, it's easy to get to babies as often as you need to at night. Also, it converts to a nice changing table, or 'play yard' type area too for later. It's a bit more expensive, but if I recall, cheaper than getting 2 single PNP's new. I got mine on craig's list used for $100.
The only draw back is that it doesn't travel extremely well if you are planning to use it for overnight trips. It's kind of a pain to set up and take down, but I think that is also what makes it so sturdy.

That is the same exact one we have as well. The boys napped in it until the reached the weight limit on the tip part, then we just removed it. Now we only use it for overnight stays at Nana's.
