OK...another party question

So there is going to be a big age difference in the kids that are coming to James' party.  Like from 2 months - 7 years.  What are some ideas to keep the older kids entertained during the party?  If its nice, they can maybe play outside.

I really need to have a plan.  We had a group of friends over NYE day and some of these same kids were there and broke some of James' brand new toys because they were playing so rough with them.

Re: OK...another party question

  • I don't have a true answer but as I look for activities for the younger ones I'm also looking for things for the older ones to do too...I started at Oriental Trading b/c they are usually pretty cheap and sell things in sets of 12.

  • Not sure this is feasible but I rented a moonbounce for this reason. They were outside and away from averys toys. For her 2nd party most of the kids were I her age group
  • I thought about a moonwalk as well...just not so sure about the weather...something to think about, though.
  • I thought about something like that, but it has a pretty good chance of being cold outside. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
  • Maybe you could get some blow-up balls and write each of their names on a ball in cute script... that way it doubles as a toy they can play with and a party favor?

Or, have some kind of activity planned, like playdoh or crayons with coloring books?

I like these ideas.  Also if there is a toy that you really don't want them playing with because they might break it then I'd just put it up until after the party was over.

  • I don't have activity suggestions, but I agree with Candi... If there is something you don't want them to mess with, lock it up and act like it doesn't exist until they're gone!

Oh, we will be.  I just underestimated the destructive quality of willful childrenWink

I just hope to channel that energy elsewhere on the day of the party.  I saw some games on oriental trading that we might try out.
