i shouldnot have used doppler this soon

iam 10 w and decided to order  the sonoline b doppler and  i got it yesterday.i couldnt wait to use it.my dh was working late so i tried it.i couldnot find the hb.dh came home and tried again and he couldnt find it either  .  i was searching the manual like crazy  and  it does say that it is best to use after 12weeks but now iam freaking out that the ob will not find a hb at the next visit and my dreams of a baby are over. i see my ob on friday .i dont know know what to think!!

TTC since 4/09. last iui before moving to ivf 8/31. postive beta 9/14 . m/c a@ 3wks . moving onto IVF cycle # 1 start lupron 10/13. 11/5 started menopur and gonal f. IVF # 1 ER on 11/15/10.ET 11/20/10. 12 eggs fertilized. 5d 2 blastocsyt transfer. 1 implanted.we are pregenant with a girl due 8/8/11 . I had my baby girl 4 weeks early July 12/11.she spent 2 weeks in NICU.

    Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know).  At my appt with the OB at 10 weeks, she did not even try to hear the heartbeat with the doppler.  She said it was really early and did not want to cause me more stress.  At my last appt...I was 14 weeks...she tried and while she could hear it, it was hard to find.  I had a hard time trying to hear it over my own heartbeat during that appt.

    Maybe you doctor will be able to use an u/s to check for the heartbeat to reassure you.  Hang in there!

    I was able to hear mine at 10 weeks 6 days, so try again in a few days!  Sometimes it's really hard for me to find and I have to go really slow and in different directions.  It took me a long while yesterday to find it.

    TTC #1 since 7/08 After 3 years, 2 losses, 3 rounds of IUI, and one round of IVF, we finally have our dream come true! DS born 7/30/11

    TTC #2 off and on since 7/12

    10 weeks is really early and like pp, my OB wouldn't ever try their doppler until 12 weeks.  I didn't try to use mine until 14 weeks maybe and it was hard then.  So I wouldn't worry about not finding anything.

    I went yesterday to the ob and she could not get the heartbeat and I was 12w.  I am so glad I didn't get a home doppler.  It would just stress me out.  It was stressful enough when she couldn't find it and then I had to wait to get an u/s.  All I could think was that my baby was dead.

    But then we saw the baby on the u/s - its heart beating away.  She said it isn't uncommon to not hear it yet.

    My OB will not even try until 12 weeks because the baby is so small and still very hard to find/easy to miss.  Don't worry!!  Plus doctors are way more skilled with their dopplers than we are.

    I couldn't find the baby until almost 12 weeks.  I could find the placenta a little earlier around 11 weeks, but still no baby.  Now I can find it every time.

    2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
    TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
    Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14

    I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

    Ditto this.  It still takes me a while to find the h/b and from the beginning by OB was able to find it within secs of placing that doppler on my belly.  I was always amazed.

    I tried to use mine on Sunday, I was 14w4d, and while I could see the hb register on the monitor I couldn't hear it.  I could also find mine, but again I wasn't able to hear it.  I figure either I am doppler challenged or it is too early still.  So you aren't alone I think the doppler probably gets easier to use as you get farther along.

    It's just too early hon! It would be hard for a medical professional to find a hb this early, so please don't stress.

    FWIW my doctor won't use the doppler until at least 14 weeks so I think you are probably a bit early.

    The nurse found  the HB on the doppler at about 10 weeks, but it took a LONG time. remember your babies are still tiny and they move around a lot. It wasn't until about 20 weeks that it was easy for them to find the HB. 

    Even at my appointment yesterday, they were moving around a lot and kept dodging the doppler.

    thanks everyone,i feel a little better   now.i guess iam just spoiled from the RE doing a internal u/s every week since we saw the sac and iam going thru u/s withdrawl.i guess it is too early for the doppler.thanks .i will let you know what happedns after fridays appt
