PSA: Lavender Essential Oil is a miracle!

I have been wary of tylenol ever since reading this article

So, when DD got her 4 month shots I was hoping she wouldn't have that bad of a reaction.  I was wrong.  When I finally got her to sleep she would wake EVERY time I stopped.  When she woke she would scream.  She would also whine every few minutes.

I kept hoping she would just fall asleep for good, so I rocked her for about 1 1/2 hours.  I was about to give in when Hippy told me that lavender EO might help.  It is considered a "cure-all."

I dabbed some onto my shirt, where DD could smell it while she sleeps (we co sleep), and I noticed a difference within a few minutes.  After about 30-45 minutes I was brave enough to try laying down and she stayed asleep!  The rest of the night was just like normal.

I just wanted to post this for anyone who is also hesitant about tylenol and looking for an alternative.  Give it a try next time!

  • thanks for this info...I will try it since I too hate giving DD tylenol
  • Are there any potential side effects of lavender EO?

Poor DS had tons of Tylenol in the hospital so I figure he's had his fill and I'd like to avoid it here out if possible.

  • PDX - I don't really know, to be honest.  You might ask Hippy that question.  I figure if there were, she would have told me, but it was late so it may have slipped her mind.  It is all natural and it isn't ingested, so I don't see where the harm could lie.

I had my DS wear an amber necklace around his ankle for a few hrs before his immunizations. I made the RN give the shot in that leg.??He barely cried during the vax. Once we were home,he'd be giggling and back to his normal self. I highly recommend trying the necklace (in addition to lavender).

  • Badger Balm makes a "night night balm" that is awesome!  They make an adult one and a kids one if you go to their site.  They also make stuffed animals stuffed with lavendar (maybe for when your DD gets older).
