Napping in the swing

I am wondering if I'm "creating a monster" here - LO would only sleep in my arms and the last few days I've been able to get her to nap in the swing.

However, she will ONLY sleep in it if it's on the highest setting - seriously, she could be sound asleep and I turn it down a few notches (it doesn't make a sound when you turn it down- she can just tell from the motion slowing), and she's up within seconds.

Am I creating a monster here with letting her sleep this way? Or should I just be glad to get what I have? (FWIW, she's still sleeping in my arms at night - this is only for daytime naps).

  • I would say no, if it allows you to get things done around the house, or to get shower and what time.

You need a break sometimes too.

  • Enjoy the quiet time and let LO swing away.   My LO doesn't like to nap, he fights it every step of the way.  He hated the swing we got him, it went too fast.  The only place he would fall asleep was my arms. My parents got him this Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Rocker. I set it up this morning and for the first time since he was born, I found time clean and cook and get things done.

  • My first would only nap in her swing and would only fall asleep in her swing for bed time.  At bed time once she was out I was able to move her to her crib.  At 6 mos old we moved nap time to the crib and did cio once we started sleeping in her crib for naps we then moved the falling asleep to her crib.  It took her a few days for naps and a few days for bed time but after that she went down fine.
  • LO takes every nap in the swing.  He sleeps great at night in the pack and play, but will not during the day.
