Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Tell me about your bottles.

I did a ton of research on bottles while I was pg, and it seemed like the Tommee Tippee bottles were among the best. I read a ton of reviews and never saw a bad one. However, they aren't working for DS. I have the slowest flow nipples, but he still chokes and takes in too much air. I'm starting to think they are contributing to - if not the reason for - his reflux. Now I don't know where to go from here. I need something slower than the ones I have, but not so slow that he gets frustrated. I figure I just need some bottles to get us through til he's able to handle how "fast" these ones flow. TIA

Re: Tell me about your bottles.

  • Have you tried Dr Browns??  We use them for DS and they work well.  He rarely burps, they are so good with the "air flow".   Hope this helps

  • You could try the Playtex drop-ins.  I use those (as well as the Medela bottles), and we haven't had any problems.  You can pump right into them, and the bag collapses to reduce the amount of air that's taken in.  I like them!  Good luck!

  • Glad you asked!

I'd also like to see what others think about vented bottle selection. I am using Dr. Browns. no big issues. I did get preemie nipples and use at first to reduce flow but that  is ok now. We are using stage 1 now without a problem.

My only complaint is that they drip and leak from the ring. I know this can happen with warmed bottles, but it does it when they're room temp, tight, etc!

Just thinking of getting more as we're moving on from the small 4oz to larger ones and might get a different brand if recommended by others.

  • we use Dr.Brown and they work great. They help a ton with her gas issues! I can also pump right into them! They do have alot of parts though, but it's worth it for us if it helps with her belly pain.

  • I'm with you on the Dr. Brown's. They seem to help our Little One with gas. Although they leak sometimes, we seem to find if you unscrew the lid and re-do it often fixes itself.

  • We had the same issue with Tommee Tippee! I was so disappointed, because I did a lot of research too and it seemed like everyone had good things to say about them.  If LO wasn't choking on the milk, then it was running down his face the entire feeding! My friend experienced these same issues, and I have seen a lot of similar complaints on here. Maybe we should all write reviews on them so people know!

We do use the Dr Browns and really like them...Our other favorite are the Soothie ones, but I don't know where you can buy those (they were given to us)  we use a variety of diff kinds because we didn't know which DS would like..we use VentAire, Dropins, and the Medela ones...and don't have a big problem with any of them

  • LO hated the Tommee Tippee bottles. Sucks because I thought they were the best just like others. We've had lots of success with the nuk bottles. Seems closest to the breast nipple to me.
  • We hated tommee tippee too. So far through trial and error our favorite is breastflow by the first years. We are going to try the drop ins next; the breastflow doesn't empty completely for me and when you have supply issues every little bit counts! 1ht
