Who no longer swaddles?

DS seems to really hate to be swaddled.  He just fights and fights and will not relax until he's let loose.  Because of this we haven't swaddled in the last 2 weeks.  He's been sleeping in the RnP at night and sometimes we'll let him nap on his tummy in his crib.  I guess my concern is, how are we going to get him to sleep on his back if he doesn't like to be swaddled?  How did you get your LO used to sleeping on their back without the swaddle?

I guess I'm just having a hard time figuring it out because DD loved to be swaddled and STTN at an early age (on her back) thanks to the swaddle.  If I lay DS down on his back, he'll immediately flail his arms and wake up.  I've tried a few times in the last week to swaddle him for naps, but he still hates it and continuously fights it.  So if you no longer swaddle, does your LO sleep on their back?  And how did you get them used to that?

    LO is 11 wks old, we havent swaddled him since he was 4 wks, He HATED it with a passion.. We never put him on his back unless its during nap time, and are with him in the same room.. For bed time I place him on one side, and roll a swaddle blanket up against his back so he cant be 100% on his back.. then after fhis night feeding I  switch sides to help prevent any flat spots. 

    My girlfriend had a similar problem as you, she found having one hand out for a few nights, then the other hand out for a few nights then worked her way to loosening the swaddle for a few night to eventually just using a blanket..

     maybe try this?

    I started swaddling her with her arms out because she would grunt all night and Houdini herself out. Then I just decided it wasn't necessary and put her in a sleep sack.

    She did better than I expected with the startling. She now STTN!

    We haven't swaddled DD since she was about 2-3 weeks old. She really didn't care for it either way. If she was particularly fussy, we would swaddle her, but generally not for sleeping. She slept (not swaddled) in her RnP until about 3 weeks ago. When we transitioned to the crib, we tried just laying her down in just her jammies and she hated it! The we started using a sleep sack with her arms left out and she had no problem from then on.

    Idk if my reply will help but we stopped swaddling DS at 1 week because he seemed to hate it. Then at 3 weeks when he seemed 100% inconsolable we tried it because it was part of the 5s', he loves it now even though we don't do it all the time.

    DD hates to be swaddled so we only did it for about a week. She will not sleep on her back for more than 10 mins, she's a side sleeper.

    I don't think we'll ever stop. He's been STTN since we started doing it again. If he's still awake when I swaddle him (with the swaddle me's), he fights it. I just shush and bounce/rock him and he usually calms down. If he's awake when I swaddle him it usually takes a little longer for him to actually fall asleep, but he eventually does :) It's nice when he's completely out when I swaddle him, but I'm trying to put him down drowsy not completely passed out.

    This for us too.  DD hated her arms in.  We used the sleep sack with the velcro swaddle to force her arms down for a couple weeks, but then stopped all together when she figured out how to get out of that too.  She has slept on her back since day one and now she sprawls out on her back and is sleeping 5-6 hours at a stretch!

    DS has never liked being swaddled and we let him sleep on his stomach. He is also STTN.
