Sorry I'm so late, work was a disaster and then after work we had to go to a wake so... meh. Now I can finally bump at will!
First let me say I LOVE the genetic counselor we saw today, she spoke science to me after I told her I studied pre-med in college and of course put it in normal person speak for DH so we could all be on the same page. She reviewed our entire family history, discussed my nephews lab results, went at length to explain the variations that the translocation he carries could cause if I carry the defect as well. She threw some stats at me and I told her so far stats hadn't been working in my favor w/ the cervical ectopic but basically there is a chance that my nephews downs was a fluke chromosomal issue at the time of fertilization so there is a chance that the translocation doesnt' even exist in my family. BUT since there is the possibility that there is absolutely no reason to guess at it, and I got drawn for the testing today... I feel a LOT better about that. She said that if I am in fact a carrier, we've got at least better than 50% and up to 85% chance of having a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby so while the 50 frightens me a bit, 85 is pretty reassuring. She did say that hopefully it won't be an issue and my chromosomes are fine, but if it is we'll probably meet again to talk about options. So while I'm really nervous to get the results back, just to have the testing done w/out having to beg and plead, and to know that an answer to this part is in the works makes me feel so much better. Thanks for all the good thoughts coming my way today ladies, I truly appreciate all the wonderful support. *HUGS*

Glad you had such a good appt. At mine the girl talked down to me and I tried to explain that I understood genetics. Oh well, I know lots of people don't.
I am glad that you were able to get the testing done. Hopefully it will come back that everything is perfectly fine!!

What a difference a good/understanding doc will make, no? I am SO GLAD you felt good after your appointment and that you have a plan and have some information to move forward with. It made my whole outlook change and I'm really happy for you!

I am so happy that you love your RE!! She sounds like she's a really good fit for your guys. Plus, she cuts to the chase and just lays everything out for you and comes up with a game plan - that's excellent! I hope your results come back soon so you can move forward. I know the TTA has been a total pain.
