Trouble TTC

New to TTTC - apologize if this is long winded!

Hi... I was on TTGP board for awhile my DH and I have been TTC for over a year without any luck. I'm a restless sleeper (most of the time) so charting my temp didn't really work too good for me. :(

Last month (December) we had our first appt with a fertility doctor. He was amazing and really made me feel comfortable. We had all the testing done prior to our visit so we already knew where we stood. My DH has a high sperm count/no problems with motility and my hormone levels looked good. I also had an HSG in November and my tubes are clear. My dr suggested I start CLOMID in December since I was there on the 8th day of my cycle. I started on day 9. We had sex when suggested by the dr and when I went back for my follow up it showed I did "O"! Dr. suggested if no period by the 9th to test.  Last night we were in the mood and when we stopped there was some blood. I got very upset. :(  Strange thing is I had no signs of AF at all. Now this am there was no blood and hasn't been all day?? I decided to test and got a BFN. :(

I plan to call the dr tomorrow - however I'm worried that I don't have any signs of AF today? Also I have to go away for work this month at the end of the month - do you think the dr could start my Clomid cycle on day 5? Sorry I'm new to all of this and would appreciate any insight!

Thanks! :)

  • I guess I'm just hoping this month wont be SHOT due to me having to go away for work! Sad

  • I'm sorry that you are here but I hope your stay is short! We are doing clomid+IUI for Male Factor IF. I take the clomid days 5-9. I have never heard of starting it as late as day 9, but I'm sure it depends on the dx!

Are you seeing an RE or your OB? I see that you had b/w done to see if you ovulated, but were you monitored at other times in your cycle? Clomid sometimes can thin your lining, so prior to IUI or TI it's a good idea to have an ultrasound to check it out.

I hope this helps and that you get your BFP soon!

  • We are doing CLOMID and did 5 days, CD 2-7.
  • Some dr's start clomid on day 3, some on day 5 - I have never heard of starting on day 9, but given that's where you were in your cycle, I guess that is why.

Meds can mess up your cycle and make AF come later, earlier or be different.  On my one clomid cycle, it extended my LP by a day.  On this cycle on injects my LP was shortened by 3 days (from typical 14 to 11).  I also didn't have the severe cramps that I normally get with AF.

Your dr should be monitoring you closely on clomid, this is very important.  Most people go in on CD 3 for a u/s to make sure there are no cysts or anything before you start meds again.  If they are not planning that, I would ask for it.  Perhaps you can have a phone consult to discuss your plan for the next cycle.   Good luck.

  • Thanks ladies! Yes, When we were in for our first appt the RE (sorry for not clarifying that) did an internal u/s. I also had a follow up visit to see if I "o-ed"!  I have a mild case of PCOS. I plan to call the dr tomorrow and discuss. Not sure if what happened last night after sex was AF or not? Thats where I'm confused? (esp since I don't have any blood today) Tongue Tied

  • What cycle day are you? The bleeding could be from the "fun" or sometimes women bleed when they O. Good luck!
