Sitting in Crib...now what?

So B sat up for the first time in her crib today when we put her down for her nap....she eventually fell asleep but for a very short time... I'm just wondering how everyone handled this?  I know we have to lower the mattress but do they just figure it out?

Re: Sitting in Crib...now what?

  • Yep.   It all kind of depends on your kid.   Charlie would learn a skill like rolling or crawling and walking and go full-bore with it.  Others take a slower approach to stuff and don't do much with it for a while.

There's no real rule on when to move down the crib.   We did it early just to ease our own concerns, but you probably don't need to rush up there this instant to drop it.

  • I'm paranoid so I lowered it as soon as I saw him try to pull to a stand.
  • Seems like we lowered it around then - or maybe even when she started rolling over.  These days I can't remember the mattress being on anything but the lowest setting but I think that has more to do with brain cells dying off quickly....
  • We lowered the mattress as soon as she started pulling up, which was around 8-9 months. We took it to the lowest setting right away. She likes to climb...

  • We just lowered the mattress to the lowest setting this week.  Out of no where Leah learned how to pull up to standing.  They grow up way too fast!

  • Oh Liz...I wish I can help you but Thomas still wakes up gazillion times a night (actually 2-4 times).  I've just come to accept this.  Anyways, we lowered his bed around 5-6 months because he was trying to pull himself up using the bumper.  Now he's stepping on the bumper to level himself up.  This boy is always up to no good :)  The joy of having a boy :)
