For anyone that takes metformin.....what is the usual dose? My doctor has me on 1000mg twice a day. That just seemed like a lot to me. I was curious to see what other people are on.

I'm on 750 twice a day but 1000 is perfectly normal. I know a lot of people who take 1000. If your really concerned just ask the dr why she put you on your specific dose. I'm sure there is a reason
I'm on 1500mg/day. I was told to take it however I chose throughout the day once I built up to it (one week at 500mg, one week at 1000mg, etc.). I try and take each pill separately throughout the day with a small meal.
I am currently on 1000mg a day, and was going to ask my Dr. to up it to 1500 at my monitoring appt on Friday- but I forgot. I am not insulin resistant. I figure it is not a huge deal at this point to up it- as I am waiting for my referral to the RE. I am sure he will change things up the way he wants...

Re: Metformin question
I take 1,000 twice a day. Did your doctor have you start out on a lower dose and work your way up??
The side effects can be kind of rough if you don't work your way up...

i'm on 1000 a day, although I want to up it based on the research i've done, but my doctor said to hold off and we'll reevaluate at 3 months.
