Multiples

formula question

I BFed my DD for 7 1/2 months and then my supply started to tank.  She had frozen milk for another month and then was on formula.  She had to be on Gentle/ Sensitive formula because the regular stuff was too harsh on her tummy.  I am planning on BFing the twins and supplementing if I feel I need to.  Should I just plan on giving them the Gentle stuff or do I start over with the trial and error?

Re: formula question

  • every baby is different, but i dont know any harm in just using the gentle formula. we tried 4 or 5 before finally using GS, if i had another baby i would just use the GS from the beginning.

  • Isnt the gentle formula more expensive?  If it is, I'd try the other stuff first.

  • Honestly - I would try them on the cheapest generic formula first and progressively move to more expensive version as needed.

The regular formula is made from milk solids, the gentle stuff (except for GS) is made with corn syrup solids.  It's not dairy free, just lighter on lactose.

  • We use the Sam's version of Gentlease. I order it online and it's on our doorstep in three days or so. Honestly, one order of the four big canisters pays for our annual membership over paying for the Enfamil version.
