Multiples

List of everything you need for twin nb's??

Is there a super organized mom of multiples that has a list of everything we will need during the nb phase?

I have a 17 month old so I just need a duplicate of most items. This is my list so far. Am I missing anything or do you think my count is off? I based it on what I used for my son but I expect the twins to be smaller and in nb clothes longer. I had a colic baby that constantly spit up so my count may be high on bibs etc.. due to my experience.

  • i know you have swaddlers down but we use receiving blankets and go thru way more than 10. We only have one swing (space). We keep a bassinett in the living room for naps and a co-sleeper and a bassinett in the bedroom for sleeping. I really wish I would have gotten two co-sleepers.

As far as clothes go for right now, my boys live in onesies and white button long sleeve shirts. Way easier for changing.  The only time I put outfits on them is if we're leaving and thats not often right now.

    Are you doing pacis?

Are you BF? Pumping?  I pump and go thru nipple cream like its water.

    What about beenies?

I might get a 2 more bath towels (IMO, depending on how much laundry youre doing) I do one baby load a day, one adult load a day.

What about cribs/crib sheets? I have 2 sheets per crib

    monitor?

babycare items? therm? bath soap? etc

  • I really varies on how much you are planning on doing laundry.  I did wash pretty much everyday after the boys were born (even now) so I'm finding my self needing quite fewer of washable items than I had anticipated.

Swings and bouncies - I wouldn't get another until your twins are here and see if they like it.  Or maybe get them and leave one in the box?  My boys loved their bouncies but had no time for the swing.  So I have brand new swing still in my basement :(

Bottles - do you have a variety?  We started with 6 4oz Avents and that was enough for us for the first month (shocking I know).  I'm not the type to let dirty bottles pile up in the sink. :) It eventually turned out that Harry  needed Dr. Browns so we just bought him 8oz ones.  Alexander stayed with Avents.  So now we have about 10 of each.  I would get a few of each and see which ones your kids like better.

I based it on what I used for my son but I expect the twins to be smaller and in nb clothes longer. I had a colic baby that constantly spit up so my count may be high on bibs etc.. due to my experience.  The twins might be smaller but IMO they grew so fast out of NB stuff that it almost seemed a waste.  depending on how big they are you might be able to get away with 0-3 mo stuff instead.  I would only buy a few NB sleepers and outfits def not 30.  as far as doubling everything this isnt necessary for the larger items like jumpers and swings.  buy 1 test it on both them if both your LOs LOVE an item then get a second or do what i did and just have a room full of that stuff and keep rotating them.  they never got bored this way.

20 nb outfits/sleepers my LOs lived in sleepers for the 1st few mo unless we went out I really dont think i had 20 outfits for them... maybe 5 or 6 each? but i did laundry 2x a day.

    30-35 0-3 outfits- sleepers

4 wearable blankets i didnt use these until they were olders and didnt want to be swaddeled any more at night only

4 xs/ nb swaddlers like p said i just bought a TON of recieveing blankets and used these to swaddel and im glad i didnt spend $$ on special swaddelers bc DD HATED being swaddeled.

    4 s swaddlers

socks my guys never wore socks unless we went out which early on was just for doc visits

2 nb size warm outfits or jkts (it will be april) I bought bundel me's and used them instead of trying to put jackets etc on 2 babies... takes way too much time.  They stayed in the bundel mes for some time.

10 rcving blankets IMO id get a few more

4 warm blankets we got 2 knitted blankets from the hospital and still use them to this day.  then i have one fleece blanket for each of them and thats it

    30 bibs

    30 burp cloths

    4 hooded towels

(I use cloth fiapers/ wipes so that is covered)

2 swings (I have 1) only get 1 of everything big until you know if your LOs like them... then you can get a second but dont waste you $$

2 bouncey seats (I have 1) i def had 2 of these my LOs lived in them early on and i also used these to tandem bottle feed.  it was nice bc they were propped up and i could just sit between them.  I even used this for spoon feeding early on.

co-sleeper (have a sm pack n play) i just used 1 crib in my room

tummy time mat (have 1) we had 2 and a play mat but they never used the tummy time mat they just played mat

bumbo i would def get 2... this was great when they were in that aquard stage where they couldnt sit.

8 bottles I would only start with this or less until you know what bottle your LO like.  I got a variety and tested for the 1st few weeks.

    carseat

    double snap and go

I got 2 highchairs that would recline so that way for a short period during the day the rugrats would hang with me in the kitchen so i could do bottles or make a meal.  you will need them eventually so i just got them ahead of time.  IMO i wouldnt stock up too much now bc each baby is different.  buy the necessities and see how your LOs like certain things.

    GL!

  • Your clothes count sounds a little high. We also do laundry at least every other day, and they just don't need that many outfits. (Ours are both spitters, and we still didn't go through that many outfits.) Like a PP, our girls also lived in kimono teeshirts and long-sleeved onesies quite a bit at the beginning.

We have oodles of bibs, and we use them all. I don't think that count sounds high at all, LOL!

We also have waaaay too many socks. Sure we use some, but we have a whole drawer full of socks and hats, and they just don't wear them that often.
