Trouble TTC

Another lap ?

How long do you have to wait post-lap to begin TTC again? I assume it is one cycle, but wanted to hear your experiences. Is lap covered as a medical procedure or is it considered as a fertility issue and only covered if you have insurance coverage for fertility? TIA

Re: Another lap ?

  • Haven't had my lap yet, but my understanding is that you can start TTC right away the next cycle.

All insurances are different as far as what they cover even if IF is not typically covered (for example, we don't have IF coverage, but insurance has paid for some of the initial testing).  It can also depend on the coding your Dr uses - I've heard of Dr's saying the lap was performed due to painful periods if this is covered and IF is not.  I'm sure you can find out more info through either your dr's office or insurance company.  GL!

  • I think it depends on what they find and do during your surgery. I assumed i would be back ttc the first cycle after the lap but i think my dr is leaning for another hsg to make sure my tubes are open since he had a problem during surgery. I go for my appointment wed so i should know. As for the insurance im not too sure. I think mine got billed as medical because he said he didnt want to label it with IF cause things get messed up and the insurance company freaks out lol Good Luck!

  • I was able to start trying the next cycle.  It was covered as a medical procedure, I just had to pay the copay.  I have no fertility coverage.
  • Thanks ladies for all your helpful responses!
