BJ City Select Stroller!

What are your thoughts on this stroller??

Re: BJ City Select Stroller!

  • if I was stroller shopping now (and know  would be having 2 LO close in age) I would be getting this one. I love the whole idea & it pusses like a dream

  • I've never pushed it or anything, but seeing it in store, it's MUCH bigger than I was picturing, and I'm not sure I like that.

I really want to see details on the new bugaboo donkey. I'm very interested in that.

  • We were debating between the City Select and the Phil & Ted and tested both of them 2 or 3 times at Baby Grand on Grand Ave. While all the combos that the City Select could do with the seats and infant seats etc were a nice feature, it was way too bulky and heavy for me. That would drive me crazy, esp with living in the city and walking to a lot of places.

We went with the Phil & Ted, mostly for how compact it is. Sure the back seat isn't the greatest for whichever kid is back there but the fact that the Phil & Ted is lighter and more compact than dd's single (kolcraft contours) was a total selling point for me. Plus I like how the P&T single is compared tot he City Select.

  • We're planning to get one.  We looked at the phil and ted but DH didn't like that the toddler seat basically sat on top of the baby, and then that DD would be stuck behind the baby when they got older.  That was the issue we had with all of the strollers that use "jump seats" to convert to being a double.

Plus having the ability to snap in a carseat and go is a huge deal for me!  We live in the city and walk alot, so having the baby fall asleep in the carseat and then carry him in and keep him sleeping scores big.  I also thought it was was one of the lightest doubles out there....it folds a lot like the stroller I have already, and the frame is a lot lighter than most standard doubles.

  • Go test drive it at baby grand.  While it is a cool concept, I didn't love it.  We were looking at it for a double stroller.  My DS was 18 months when we tried it and it seemed like the seat was tiny on him (He's very average sized).

We ended up get the Bumbleride Indie Twin for a double and kept both of our single strollers for the occasions we need them.  I probably wouldn't buy it for the thought of using it as a double unless you're planning on having 2u2.

  • We have one and I LOVE it. Love love love it. I am a big person and my husband is too, so the size isn't an issue. I actually like how big it is, because it is just the right height for me.

On some of the warmer days last month, we took it out on neighborhood walks and it did great on the snowy sidewalks.

I got the adapter for his infant car seat, and it's easy to switch back and forth between the adapter and the the stroller seat.

This may be our only child, so the double part wasn't that big a deal to me, but it's definitely a bonus that if we do have another baby in 1-2 years that we can just keep the same stroller.

I went to Baby Grand to look at the Uppa and they showed me the BJCS and it was a done deal. (Neither my husband nor I could figure out how to easily fold the Uppa. The CS folds really easily.)

  • I was sold on it until I saw it in the store (they have a display model at USA Baby in Richfield). It is pretty bulky. I think I would be able to put up with it if I knew for sure I would have 2 LO's close in age, but #1 is on the way and we will probably wait 3 years after that to start on #2.

By that point #1 may not even want to be in a stroller. So.... I'm opting for the BJ City Mini. I was very impressed with the one that was on display.
