TTC After a Loss

Talk to me about Brazilian Waxes ladies...maybe TMI..(NTTCALR)

Ok so I'm getting married in less than four months and last night the topic of brazilians came up with my FI.

I've thought about getting one before, but I'm a TOTAL baby when it comes to pain. I think this could be something fun and hot for the wedding night but I'm scared lol!

I want to make sure I go to a reputable place that's not going to be all dirty and I've also heard that the regrowth time is very annoying/itchy. I have very sensitive skin, esp. "down there" so I'm worried about it.

Quite frankly though, if this gets our BD lives more active and encourages a little more foreplay of a certain..ahem... variety...I may be all for it.  Embarrassed

Sorry if that is TMI!

  • I did it 2 months before I got married.  I also have very sensitive skin (I can't shave b/c the gel irritates my skin).  I didn't have any issues with it, except the pain.  The re-growth was not bad at all, better than shaving.  Ask your GFs if they know a good place to go, that is how I found the place I went.  I was also doped up since I had my wisdom teeth removed a couple days before.

I have not been back, trying to find a better place to go next time.

    HTH!

  • i completely agree it makes sex more interesting...i feel much sexier when i have a brazilian wax.  BUT it does come with a price - its pretty painful.  i think you could compare it to putting masking tape on your arm and ripping it off very quickly.  i would advise you to do a few test runs first to see how the grow out phase is for you or just bite the bullet and get it done the week of your wedding.  also, taking a couple ibuprofen helps the pain.

  • I have never gotten one sounds way to painful. I am also very shy and would not want someone waxing me down there. I hate going to the OB Dr. and getting Vaginal ultrasuonds and paps. I shave down there. I do wax my eye browns, and my lip though.

  • I used to do it frequently, but it can be a little pricey (all those dolla' bills have been redirected to TTC these days!). I'm not going to lie - it does hurt, but it doesn't last long, either. By the time I've driven home it doesn't hurt anymore.

I get lots of ingrowns and ugly bumps when I shave, so I prefer to wax. I'd try it before you do it for your wedding night just in case it doesn't work out for you. You need at least 3 weeks of regrowth to be waxed again, so I'd recommend a trial run soon. Good luck, and congrats on your upcoming wedding!

  • I used to do it ALL the time. I wouldn't have to go back for 6 weeks. LOVED it. It was painful and embarassing at first but the lady I used in Houston took only 5 min to do it and she let me keep my panties on. She then would let me "clean" up the wax on my own while she prepped another client. It was nice since she would talk the whole time so I would be distracted!
  • I do my own. I used to work at a day spa and the waxers taught me how. Its painful but not the worst pain ever.

  • I've never had one so I can't get you first hand advice. (DH said he didn't like the completely nude look! Horray, got luck there!) What I have heard is similar to what other ladies have said. It does hurt, but is worth it in the end.

  • I've had it done a number of times. It does hurt - good advice above about taking some pain medication - but it's really not that bad. I've also heard that certain times during your cycle hurt less (Google that, maybe). It hurts most across your pubic bone, believe it or not - not in the real lady bits. That part actually hurts less. You're right about picking  a clean, reputable place. They'll chit chat with you to keep you preoccupied and they've seen a million who-has so they won't care about looking at your nether regions, really. If you shave a lot, it'll hurt more. I agree about the trial run, but if you want it to be a surprise for the wedding night, then you can't do it early. Good luck! And more importantly, have fun afterward!!!

  • I've never had a Brazilian wax but I did try a bikini wax once... my experience was along the lines of the scene from 40 yr old virgin, but I went to a BAD place, they were clean but lets just say it was uber painful to get my brows done so I'm not sure what sadistic impulse led me to believe anything below the belt would feel better... they used a weird stick wax and the waxer was not so good. Def get a rec from friends. And don't go right before your period cause like thewayiam said, you tend to be more sensitive. When I get my eyebrows done at the same time as PMS... it hurt like a SOB and I was red for days! I heard that from a waxer once but was like "pooh pooh" - Good luck and let us know how it goes! After my expericne I've been scared to try again but I get razor burn terribly so I've thought about giving it another go somewhere else.

  • Do it! I do them every month or so and have for years. It's so worth the pain, if you go to someone good it shouldn't take long. DH freaking loves it, I think it's partially why he married me.

But try it out now-BEFORE your wedding. If you have a bad reaction you don't want your honeymoon ruined.

  • I had my first brazillian 5 days before my wedding and loved it. It is a bit painful and definitely a bit embarrassing (especially for a brazillian because they make you turn  around like doggie style) but I guess you just get over the embarrassment. Do your research. I checked Yelp to find a good place. I did it again after the wedding but the second time had awful ingrown hairs and I was bumpy  and itchy. I like the feel of it, but it is quite expensive (around $55-70) and I would rather spend the money on other things that last like a pair of shoes or my Victorias Secret Pink fettish. I would definitely say though to try it once and at least you will have done it and can decide for yourself if you want to keep it up. My DH loved it though and I'm sure I will get them again from time to time in the future.

  • I've never done it because of the cost, but I want to!  Like PP said, I would definitely do a trial run about 4 weeks out, and then one more the week of the wedding.  Good luck and congrats on the upcoming wedding. =)

  • Thank You so much ladies!!!!!!!

I need to do some research on a good place and such but I think I def will try it out.

I am still terrified of the pain, but I will take some pain killers before hand like you all suggested.

I do want to try a trial run, but I would still love a bit of a surprise factor too. I'm thinking I might give it a shot a little bit before Valentine's Day Devil.

If it works out well then I will definitely do it again!

    Thank you again!
