How is your dad?

Thanks so much for asking!!!! I just got home from the hospital and planned to do an update tonight.

He is really coming along. I mean I am not sure if he will fully recover from the stroke, there is no telling I guess, but he is doing better. The did PT yesterday and he did much better than they expected with walking. He is talking fine and can carry on a conversation as well as he ever did.

His vision is still not back to normal, but it is improving. He can read the clock on the wall now and he has full view (on Friday he could only see 3/4 of the TV screen - now he can see it all. He could read the score today during the Ravens game. He can read the big headlines in the paper, but if they are more than one line he has trouble following to the next line. He hasn't tried to read any articles yet. He tried the comics, but was having trouble.

He still has the pneumonia too, but it is getting better. He was also on room oxygen for parts of the day, but increased oxygen over normal (he uses it at home overnight) at night or when napping.

He seemed to still struggle with cutting his food, more like hacking at it, but he got the job done (of course tonight it was hospital meatloaf, which was pretty soft). He is able to feed himself now too.

So, he is coming along very well. Still hoping and praying he will continue to improve, especially his eyesight. Thanks again for asking - it means a lot.
