speaking of cribs/beds...

When do you plan to move your toddler into a bed? I now wish I had one of those convertible cribs that has part of the railing that is open so DD can safely get out of bed. Although I can just imagine her climbing out & emptying her bookshelf at 2a.m., then running all over the house.

Re: speaking of cribs/beds...

  • DD hasn't even attempted to climb out of the crib, but I've wondered about this as well. We are trying for #2, so I imagine we will use her crib for the next one (even though it converts to a toddler bed.). She'll be at least two when that happens. But the wondering around concerns me as well.

  • once a toddler bed became necessary, i took everything out of the bedroom that could be harmful or would upset me if it were destroyed (books for example). i also put up a baby gate on the bedroom door so that the door could still be closed, but if opened they would still have the gate to prevent them from wandering around the house getting into trouble. totally works until potty training. :)
  • We switched DD to a toddler bed when she was a little over two because she was climbing into the crib.  I like that the toddler bed is nice and low to the ground.  Ditto Kandie on removing things from the room that might be dangerous.  She doesn't wander around at night.  It took about a month for her to get used to falling asleep in the big girl bed though.
  • We have a convertible crib but won't be using it for a loooooong time. M would be all over the place. IDK, I mean, he's such a big boy but he still seems like such a baby. And I'd worry about him wandering off and playing with the kitty litter or something.

Maybe he'll be ready in another year or so.

  • Aaron hasn't even attempted to climb out and he sleeps all over the crib?rolling all around?so I'm not even close to considering this yet.  Maybe after he turns 2.  He's still not even 17 months (Friday).
