What did you actually wear at the hospital after LO was born?

I don't remember what I did when DD was born. I know I took 2 sets of nursing pajamas, a sleep bra and a nursing tank, but I don't remember what I used. I was at Motherhood Maternity tonight looking for a nursing set, but didn't really see anything I liked. I prefer pants over the gowns and they didn't have much of a selection. Just wondering what those of you did who recently had their LOs. Oh, I also have a robe and slippers I'm going to take. I think I took my slippers along when I had DD, but ended up only wearing socks. Thanks for any suggestions!

  • I haven't had my LO, but I packed 2 sets of my non maternity pajamas that are pants w/ matching button-up tops and plan on wearing a nursing tank underneath them. I also packed a loose casual dress to come home in because a) the weather has been nice, so I don't think I'll need warm winter clothes and b) just in case I end up needing a c-section, I won't want a waistband on the incision. I also packed nonskid socks, so I don't have to fuss with putting on and taking off slippers, and I packed shower flip-flops and toiletries.

  • I only wore a robe and slippers at the hospital. I wore a hospital gown most of the stay as that was the most convenient thing to nurse in. I would think it would be a pain to wear pjs, especially how often they come and check on your bleeding.

This is what I got to wear, pants seem silly to me b/c of what pp said about RN's checking and the bleeding

  • I wore a gown for the first two days because it was easy.  On the third day I put on a nursing bra, nightgown, and very loose yoga pants (because I thought the gown was a little short for company.  It felt great to wear actual clothes!  Oh, and I wore slippers anytime I left the room.

I'll be wearing the yoga pants home and for days to come.

  • This is my first, but I currently have packed two maternity/nursing PJS (pants sets) with matching robes. I'm a newbie so of course I had to have the matching ones! However, considering that no-one is coming to visit us i'm not sure it really matters, Comfort is the most important thing!
  • I wore the hospital gown for the first night and full day (LO was born at 5:30pm) because like pp said they are checking you so often it was just easier. The next night I took a shower and got dressed in my own clothes and felt like a new person! I was able to move around much better by then (yay c/s...) and my bleeding was more under control- still there obviously, but I didn't need help getting cleaned up lol.

I wore yoga pants (non-maternity with the roll-top pulled up), sports bras, tanks, and a really lightweight robe. Now that I'm home I've discovered nursing bras, and I definitely should have had some nursing tanks in the hospital, they would have made the logistics of newbie BFing easier.

  • Black PJ pants and shirts. I changed into them within 10 hours after DS.
  • the hospital gown, socks I got at bath a body works and my robe if I needed it.  I was only there 2 nights and was bleeding alot so I was changing my gown a few times a day.
  • I wore the hospital gown with a sleep nursing bra the day I had dd. The next day after the bleeding had slowed down I wore yoga pants and a nursing tank just because it was more comfortable for me.
  • I wore the hospital gown the day DD was born.  The next day I wore the hospital nursing gown for half the day, but I hated it because I felt so exposed, so I changed into a non-maternity pj gown with a bra top and a pair of fleece pants.  I wore the pj gown home.

Here is a pic (mine is white with pink and blue flowers):

  • I ended up using the hospital gown for the first 24 hours after my daughters birth, it just felt easier.  Then I switched into a nursing tank, yoga pants and a short robe.  I've been wearing some combination of that outfit since.

  • I wore the hospital gowns for my entire stay. I also used there slippers and robe. I brought alot of clothes to change into and ended up not using any of my own clothes, i didnt want to ruin mine so i just wore the hospitals things the entire stay.

  • I packed non maternity pjs, a pair of comfy fleece sweats, and some nursing tanks.

However after the section I ended up wearing just a hospital gown for the first 2 days until I was able to get a shower.  I think the best thing I did was bring a few different types of underwear, bikinis boy shorts etc, because what I thought would be comfortable definitely wasn't, lol.

My nurses only checked me twice on the first day and once on the second, and zero on the third.

  • Im still awaiting baby #1 but after just visiting my friend in the hospital after her recent birth I have modified my bag. what I am taking is this moomoo/housecoat thing I found at wallmart that zips up in the front figured it was cheap and easy access for BF plus it hit me at the knee whereas the lighter robe I have is a bit short for when company is about. It is more lightweight than my robe.  I have 2 pairs of socks, no slippers instead I bought some crocs at nordstroms rack for cheap since they can go into the shower as well as be worn with socks around the room/hospital. Then of course super hanious granny panties lol

For going home I also packed a nursing tank and zip up hoodie, again easy access as well as some cotton yoga style pants.

  • LO was born at near 12 in the afternoon-I wore the hospital gown until the next day. Then I took a shower, and put on a long sleeve loose shirt and sweatpants. I wore something similar home the 3rd day. The nurses checked my bleeding the first day, but not any more after that, so wearing pants was not a problem.

  • When I was in the hospital with ds they were checking me every 3 hours and every shift change throughout the night, so its crazy to hear so many of you weren't checked that much!

  • I wore maternity (under the belly band) pj pants with nursing tanks.  I had slippers and a robe with me I would throw on as needed.  I packed two sets and wish I had packed three.
  • I wore pajamas over nursing tanks. The first whole day and night I was there I just wore the hospital gown.

  • With DD1 I wore the hospital gown the whole time. With DD2 I changed into yoga pants and a tank top a couple of hours after she was born. I was so much more comfortable this time.

  • With DS1 I just wore the gown until I left because they had nursing slits in the front so it was easy.  Then I wore black yoga pants and a shirt home.

This time I have cute nursing pajamas with a matching baby gown that I plan to wear.  Not sure what I'm wearing home, I'm sure same as above.
