This is probably an off the wall question but my chiropractor recommended that I take a natural form of progesterone while i was trying to get pregnant and then through my pregnancy. It's called Pro-Adapt, it's drops but the ingredients say :wild yam extract. I know this is more of a holistic approach and probably not something my doctor would know about (I'm going to ask at my next appt. anyways) but has anyone heard of this or is anyone taking this? Thanks!
Re: wild yam extract (progesterone)?
We tried for 9 months. I was working with the GP and naturopath. My naturopath noticed that my estrogen levels were normal but higher than usual. I was also having pain and spotting in the 2nd half of my cycle. So she thought using a wild yam cream would help. I can't confirm that it's what did it for us, but the cycle that I used it was the cycle that I got pregnant.
Just be sure not to use during days 1-14 of your cycle. It might vary. For me it was days 1-13 because I had a 26 day cycle. Use it during the 2nd half to boost progesterone production.
Mine was a cream. 1/4 tsp per day. I had to alternate otherwise the pg builds up, so I was rubbing it on my inner thighs, inner arms, chest and uterus on a 6 day cycle.
Initially, for maybe about a week or two I was using it because my naturopath said it should help against m/c. But I have stopped using it because I have read contradicting reports on WYC during pregnancy. My naturopath tried to give me some other things for acne and nausea but I haven't taken anything because none of it has really been tested.
Just another thought that came to me on this today...
I remember that my naturopath said it was good for neural development...but could cause nausea
