Hi everyone,
I usually post on the Pregnant After Infertility board, but saw that you guys were looking to get this board going so thought I'd come over and say hi!
I am set on having my baby in a hospital, and I'm leaning strongly toward Prentice (we live on the NW side of the city). However, I like the idea of laboring (and possibly delivering) in the water. I don't believe Prentice offers this option, anyone know of a good hospital that does?
Thanks!
Re: Hospitalized Water Labor / Water Births in Chicago?
I'm late to reply to this b/c I was on vacation! But I delivered DS at Prentice and labored and gave birth in a birthing tub. I was with the Midwife group through Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group. I loved them and would definitely recommend them. Just make sure whichever group you go with that you discuss your desire to use the birthing tub to make sure they allow it. And then you also need to make sure you request the birthing tub at Prentice when you are in Triage (before they assign you a labor & delivery room), because there are only a few rooms at Prentice that can accommodate the tub.
As other posters mentioned, West Suburban in Oak Park also has birthing tubs. If you are up for the commute, I would HIGHLY recommend the West Suburban Midwives. I was going to that group for PG #2 (which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage), but I loved everything about them and their philosophy. https://www.westsubmidwives.com/
