Toddlers: 24 Months+

Tell me about Disney!

We're taking DS in April and we're SO excited! We've booked most of our meals, but we're still deciding about a few. The whole trip seems a little overwhelming to plan, but we don't want to go in without a plan and end up missing things.

In your experiences, what restaurants/activities are a must?

  • Dinner Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge is my favorite.  Ohana's (Polynesian) for dinner is also good.  I also like Columbia Harbor house for a quick lunch at Magic Kingdom.  50's Prime Time Cafe at Hollywood Studios is fun too.

Man I sound like a foodie LOL!

Allears.net is a good website for info, menus, etc.

  • I didn't see that you want to know about activities.  We have gone 8 times with DD who is 28 months.  She likes anything that is a live show.  Playhouse Disney Live at Hollywood Studios is good for a kid your DS's age.  She also likes the tiki room at magic kingdom. There are many parades too.
  • MK anything in Fantasyland is a must do because it's for young kids.  As for eating- we usually do breakfast at Crystal Palace (it's Pooh characters).  We've had breakfast at Chef Mickey's too and that was also pretty good but getting to the contemporary can be a pain if you aren't staying at hotels on the monorail.

I would say Muppets 3D would be a good choice for your son (in Studios) and Nemo and Friends in Epcot is also a good choice. Safari ride in Animal Kingdom is lots of fun too (just sit on the inside seats since it gets bouncy).

My DD loved Whispering Canyon Cafe even when she was just a year old.  But again it's in a hotel (Wilderness Lodge) and can be a pain to get to unless you are at a park and going to it after, even then getting back to your hotel might be an issue.

  • I love the Ohana at the Polynesian.  You can go for a late dinner and watch the fireworks over MK they turn down the lights and play the music that goes with the fireworks.  We usually drive up from south FL.  So the day we get to disney we do swim and dinner at Ohana so we don't pay to go to the park on a travel day but get a disney eperience.

  • I agree - Chef Mickey's is awesome.

And you might check out the Hollywood and Vine character meals at DHS, they have playhouse Disney characters if that appeals to your son.

Be sure and do the Kidcot stops in Epcot's World Showcase, kids love it.

  • Congratulations...you'll love it!  We just got back from Disney and had an amazing trip.  Looks like pp's have given you lots of restaurant and activity recs.  I know everyone raves about Chef Mickey's...but it's just not for us.  To us...it feels like a factory, a cafeteria-like atmosphere complete with buffet, and the food is not up to par.  We would give the quality of the food about a 2 on a scale of 1-10.  While dd enjoyed seeing the characters(which is the only reason to go), she got to spend just as much time with them at the parks.

The disboards are an excellent resource.  Prior to our trip, I searched "toddler" in their forums and found a lot of helpful info...https://www.disboards.com/

Best of luck and safe travels.
