Silly ?: Nap interfering with party

We have a family party to attend (hosted by her grandma and grandpa) and the start time is right when DD goes down for a nap.   Normally, I would go a bit early and push nap back an hour.  However, we have swim lesson that day as well (and I am not willing to miss since lessons are only 6 weeks long and we are missing the following week) and we will have to come home and take a bath directly after since DD has super sensitive skin.

What would you do?

A.  put her down as normal... go after she wakes up.

b.  skip nap altogether, naps aren't a reason to miss a party!

c. suck it up and skip swim lessons

d. other....

  • d... Could you leave after her bath and have her sleep for a bit in the car? Whenever we are doing something that interferes with naps, I always try to leave early and have her sleep a bit in the car. Lots of gas has been wasted over this strategy though.

This is what I would do. Mr.A has had many naps in the car

  • Personally I would put her down as usual and go when she wakes up.

DS is not a good car sleeper.  We have tried the nap in the car technique on the way to events a few times, and DS is notorious for being wide awake the whole ride and then falling asleep when we turn in to our destination.  So one of us will usually drive around for another 30-45 minutes so he can get a nap in.

But it just depends on your daughter's napping personality, I guess.

  • my ds is a napper everyday, but i have been known to skip it a few times for really busy days like this and he's been totally fine. you know your lo, if you think she can go without i'm sure it would make your day a lot easier!
