DId you do a trigger shot? I was just under the assumption that if you did an IUI you always did a trigger shot because things would be time more appropriately then. I guess this isn't always the case? Sorry for all of the questions! This is all new to me!

I did not do a trigger shot with either of my unmedicated IUI's. With my last cycle I did injects + trigger + TI.
Witht the unmedicated IUI's I just used OPK's and then when I got a + I called and went in. My RE insists on morning testing, I don't ever get my first + in the am though (I test twice a day and it is always + in the afternoon first and then the following morning). With the first one, my + was in the afternoon, I went with their protocol and scheduled it for 2 mornings later.
The next time I got my afternoon + and scheduled it for the next day. I got KU on that cycle, but it was a c/p. Yes, timing is better with a trigger, but it is possible without. Good luck!!
You can do it either way. We're doing Clomid + Trigger, but my close friend who saw a different RE did Clomid + OPK, which eventually worked for them. The trigger makes timing easier, but is more expensive. My clinic is very small so scheduling has a less flexibility (and they offer cheap meds so cost isn't an issue), so the trigger makes it easier for them to control timing of IUI's. My friend went to a much larger clinic who can schedule IUI's anytime (the nurses do them, at my clinic the RE does them) so timing isn't as critical. Of course, if OPK's don't work for you, then that's not going to be a reasonable option.
When is your IUI? We go in tomorrow for our monitoring appointment and possible trigger (first one for me!). Good luck!

I actually already had it. I triggered on Tues and had the IUI Thurs morning. My insurance covered half the cost of the trigger shot so the cost wasn't really an issue for us. Good luck!!!
