I am very happy w/ our Bjorn. I bought it about a year ago on sale on Amazon for like $19. After we PT'd, I decided I wanted a second one for downstairs/the car etc and I picked up another Bjorn for $11.99 at a consignment store. Perfect condition... I just scrubbed it w/ a little Lysol.

We had the ikea one and I hated it. It was tiny and flimsy and DD had a hard time sitting on it... it has a very small edge, so it was hard for her to get comfy. Also, because it was so flimsy, she thought it was a toy, and I had a hard time getting her to not wear it as a hat... ugh. Thankfully, we weren't seriously potty training at that point... but I did end up throwing it away after she dumped it out on the floor after peeing on it.
We also have the bjorn potty ring, which sits on top of a regular potty. I can't say enough good things about it. It adjusts to fit any potty seat and is always very sturdy, unlike some other potty rings. We live in Europe and the toilet is an odd size, and it adjusts to fit perfectly.
I don't have experience with the bjorn small potty chair.
We have the full size Bjorn and my DD doesnt have any difficulties or complaints with it. I would purchase it again. Sorry, neither of us have any experience with the IKEA.
TIP: let her choose between sitting on the big potty vs. the little potty as it will make public bathrooms less scary and the eventual transition easier.
