Evening Primrose Oil

Hey Ladies,

I read that some of you have been taking this supplement to help in the baby making process.  What is it supposed to do?  I was reading about it at the pharmacy and it didn't mention anything about aiding in fertility - but it did say not to take if pregnant.  Just seems like conflicting information.

    Trying to get pregnant does not equate being pregnant. It is not conflicting information. EPO is supposed to help in the production of fertile CM. I have taken it for two cycles. It has helped somewhat, but it also gives me headaches.

    EPO is supposed to help the body produce more fertile egg-white cervical mucus. This type of mucus helps sperm survive in the woman's body longer and reach it's destination. I know they say not to take it after ovulating, and I think that's because it can cause uterine contractions? I guess that would be why you wouldn't take it while pregnant but I'm not 100% on that.

    I've been taking EPO for 2 cycles prior to O and have seen an increase in CM. Hope that helps!

    For those of you who are taking/have taken it - did you have EWCM at all before taking it?  Were you taking this in hopes of having your body produce more or just begin to produce some?

    I had true stretchy EWCM back in July and August and haven't seen any since.

    I took EPO last cycle, trying to boost my EW chances, and ended up spotting a lot earlier in my 2ww. Not sure if they are related, but it freaked me out so I didn't take it again this cycle.

    I don't know why but I have always been drier than a burnt boot. We use Pre-Seed, its supposed to be similar to CM and sperm friendly.

    Yeah, I did have some before but only right around O. I have more now and not just at O time. I thought it might just increase our chances because I feel like I might not have been producing enough or possibly not at the right time. Last month I ended up getting AF earlier than ever before so I really hope that was not the cause. I guess we'll find out this month!

    I like it too but we usually need more than the recommended amount (everyone else seems to need less?) but it also depends on the day. Lube is lube to me but my SO seems to think the name Pre Seed is HILARIOUS. Let the seed spreading jokes ensue.

    I took it for one cycle and it gave me terrible indigestion so I quit taking it.
