Today, DH calls me and starts with, "Okay, so I don't want you to freak out, but..." and then continues to tell me how when he and Annalise were telling one of our cats "goodbye" this morning before they left the house and that the cat swatted at her and she has a big scratch on her hand.
I've been telling that ole' fool to NOT put her around that cat, but whatever-- no one listens to me! grrr.
Re: Has your cat ever scratched your LO?
I don't mean to worry you buy definitely watch the scratch closely. Cats walk around in litter boxes which are clearly not bacteria free and cat scratches can cause pretty nasty bacterial infections as well as cat scratch fever (yes, it's a real thing!). Just keep an eye on it.

My cats are both declawed (as kittens) cuz I am a vet tech and work with unhappy cats and their nails all day long - no way I am going to deal with them at home with myself or my kids!!!
The cat that I have from before DH and I met is declawed. This is his cat that he had before we met, too. Oh, and he is SOOO obsessed with this cat. So irritating. The scratch scared the crap out of him though and now he is anti Annalise/cat interation.
It is probably best they don't interact for a while, esp if not declawed, just to be safe. Tell him where I work when we get scratched it is clinic protocol (to avoid infection problems with ourselves) that we scrub the wounds with surgical scrub for a couple minutes! I know we all want our pets to be friends with our kids but there is lots of time for that later... I'm guessing he gets it now!!

Tinker won't get close enough to Sarah for hair pulling or scratching to occur. The few times that she has been brave enough to come sniffing around, Sarah has been sitting in one of our laps, and we show her how to gently pet and immediately move her hands away if she tries to grab. I don't believe in declawing, so closely supervised interaction will be the only way until she is old enough to understand.
Our cats aren't aggressive toward humans at all. The only time they've ever scratched is if you pick them up or try to rub their tummies. That's it. I honestly wouldn't keep a cat around my child if they were at all aggressive.
That said, I don't leave DS alone with them, just in case. But one of the cats just tries to get DS to pet him by rubbing on him (so cute), while the other just kinda ignores him.
If you're worried about future scratches, you can keep your cat's nails trimmed or get some of those soft paws. Poor baby hand!
