Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Canadian Mama's returning to work?

Anyone else getting ready to return to work after a year maternity leave?

I'm headed back January 24th part time until March when I return full time. Lauren is starting her "visits" at daycare next week.

How are you feeling? Are you ready?

Re: Canadian Mama's returning to work?

  • We are not ready at all. I have 2 months left before my mat leave is done. We can't afford daycare for DD so we are looking in to me staying home and maybe watching another little child.

  • My Mat. leave ran out at the end of November.  I work from home for my DH, but I do have to find a job outside the home, because our company can no longer sustain my salary... yay crap economy!

That being said: I. AM. NOT. READY. TO. GO. TO. WORK.  BOOOO!  I want so bad to be a SAHM.

  • I'm headed back in February. I'm only going back very part time though (12 hours/week) and my sister is going to look after DS. I will also be looking after her DD 1-2 days a week while she works. I don't love my job and I'm not excited about it.
  • I go back in Feb.  But I am looking for a newer/better job. I am sick of retail.

  • I had to go back to work in September so I could work on accumulating hours in order to go on mat. leave with this baby. I'm taking personal time right now so I don't have to start my mat. leave until February. I was sooo not prepared to go back to work when they were so young and it was HARD.

  • My LO starts daycare on January 17th and I am returning to work on Jan 31st. My mat leave was supposed to be until March but where I live there are few daycares that accept children under 18 months old so when I was able to secure a spot in January I had to take it. I have no family that is available to look after LO while I work. I was super relieved when I found out when had secured daycare but then I became so emotional about having someone else look after her all day. Nobody can do it as well as I can and my heart is breaking a little. I thin of the positives though about her making new friends and learning new skills and socialization but the closeness we have is going to slip away. Oh the complex emotions of being a parent!
