Refresh my memory - how many diapers?

Hello and congrats to you all.  I am a second time mom who is due in April.  I am pre-buying pampers online and don't want to get too many of one size.  How long was your child in size N and size 1?  Currently , I've bought only 1 case 84 cnt of size N and 2 216 count cases of size 1.  I know I will need many more of both, but don't want to buy too many of either (especially the size N).  What do you think?

Re: Refresh my memory - how many diapers?

  • Well, he's just now finishing up the last of his N's (6 weeks) but he could have been in 1's, he's right in between.

However, I'd not go too crazy.  Just because pampers worked for #1 doesn't mean they'll work for #2, ykwim?

He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be.  He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.

  • It's going to depend on your LO.  Mine was in newborn until 6 weeks, but my niece was only in them 3 weeks.  If you buy the same size boxes that Walmart carries (and don't open them) you can exchange them.

  • My son barely fit N when he was born.  I only bought one package of them and switched to 1 right away.

  • My LO has always been in size 1s (Huggies Lil' Snugglers.)  Pampers Size N & 1 both leaked, and they used Huggies Size 1 in the hospital.

  • DS was in newborn diapers for about 3 days...DD is still in them.  I wouldn't buy more at this point until the baby is born.

  • We never bought newborn.  I think we were given a couple packs as gifts and used them until we ran out, but that was in week two and she was busting out of them.  She is now in size 1 but ready to move up to size 2.  Once size 1 is all finished, I think we will have gone through about 400 diapers.

  • LO was 9.5lbs at birth so he only wore NB size for 2 or 3 weeks. He's 9 weeks now and just getting too small for size1s. I just switched him to size 2s this morning and I think they are too big for him so I may be going back to size 1 for another week or so.

  • Next time around we'll only buy one small thing of NB.

My son is 7 pounds and he's already blowing out of NB's all over the place after a week.

  • I guess it will depend on how big and "intestinally active" your LO is. Smile Our LO is 2 weeks old, weighed 7 lbs 11 oz at birth and will be in newborn diapers for a while I think.  She's using an average of 10-12 diapers a day so we blew through the 84 count we had already and replaced it with another 84 just yesterday.

  • LO was born at 7lbs 6oz and we went through about 200 newborn diapers.  We are still in size 1 and have gone through about 450 thus far.
