I'm new to this...
I was a runner prior to getting pregnant...nothing crazy, just 2-3 miles per day. I'm reading conflicting info about exercise while pregnant with twins.
Can you share exercise experiences while pregnant with twins? Did anyone have a doctor tell you not to?
Thank you!

Re: Exercise while pregnant with twins?
I ran through the 14th week of my pregnancy - which was around mid July. It just got too hot outside and I was fine running but after running I was overheating a little too much. Probably just not as well hydrated as I needed to be.
I kept cycling through week 28 of my pregnancy and swimming through week 32 when I was put on modified bedrest due to cervical funneling.
I've been a couch potato since, but obviously it's worked as I still have inside babies at 37+ weeks
GL!
You're going to hear some really different opinions on this, but my doctors told me I could run and work out as long and as much as felt comfortable. I was a runner and triathlete before babies, and she trusted me to not do anything stupid. Her only advice was to keep an eye on my temperature and stay extremely hydrated.
For the last year, my running blog below has been about my adventures in running while pregnant with twins. I even did a post specifically about my advice and strategy.
I was extremely lucky to have a comfortable, happy, complication-free pregnancy and recovery. I honestly believe much of that was due to staying so active. If you're serious about wanting to exercise, I'd discuss it with your doctor at length. I'd also suggest getting Exercising Through Your Pregnancy to read. It has so much info in it about the benefits of staying active.
Good luck!
My doctor encouraged me to exercise. Her only stipulations were no lifting over 20 lbs, watch your heart rate, breathing, and posture and listen to your body. My son is almost 5 and weighs about 43 lbs and I still pick him up from time to time... I just have him stand on a chair first so I don't have to bend and lift.
Pre-pregnancy we were at the gym 4 days a week at least. 1st tri I was way too exhausted and naseous but now that I'm over that hump I'm in the gym 3 days a week at least.
I do 30 min on the treadmill at a steep incline and 3 mph. Then arm, chest, and back machines and walking lunges with 8lbs and any other leg machines that strike my fancy. I top it off by sitting on a big gym ball at the end and talk to the LOs. I drink a ton of water throuought and have a big glass of milk when I get home.
Hope this helps!
I ran 25-30 miles per week for the first 30 weeks.
Swimming is the best though (no weight on your cervix), however besides from a wearing a heart rate monitor, I didnt worry about it until 24 weeks (when I read you should cut back on activities). I ended up with a healthy pregnancy and healthy babies - but so much of that is luck, unfortunately.
I was a runner/ avid exerciser pre-pg and my RE and MFM suggested I cut back/out running early on but they were totally on board with elliptical, swimming, prenatal yoga, light free weights, walking and stationary biking.
I was fortunate in that I did cardio and weights until 34 weeks. At my 34 wk appt, Baby A was diagnosed SGA and leaning towards IUGR so I used my best judgement and cut back considerably to try and conserve as many calories as possible until I delivered at almost 39 weeks. I still was "active" but not sweating if that makes sense.
Just listen to your body and as my dr. advised, don't try anything new and/or don't push your body too hard. There were days I was all about my workout and others when I felt it was better to skip and lay low.
