I've heard people say that it is better to trigger, but I'm not for sure. If you do a trigger shot, does that make all of your follicles release or still just the mature follicles? I triggered CD 18 at 8:45 pm and did the IUI CD 20 at 8:45 am.
There is no way to know when you are going to O naturally until AFTER you O. With the trigger you can control exactly when you O. It's 36 hours after you do the shot. It works exactly the same way as far as the follicles being released, just makes the doctor have control of the timing.

I thought the point of doing the trigger is to better pinpoint O. However, if you start surging before the trigger, you could O sooner than the 36 hours that most estimate. I also thought that the trigger would make all of your follicles release, but only the mature follicles will release a viable egg.
I went in today at 8am, and had my trigger yesterday about 8am. Turns out I had already O'd the follicle on my left, but the one on the right (at 18mm) was still there. So, they said that the trigger would help that follie on the left ovulate, but it was 50/50 whether it was mature or not. And, that it would probably ovulate sometime today or tomorrow.
