So I'm like halfway through this book and it pretty much answers every single question you could possibly have while your pregnant. My doctor told there was stuff in there that she never heard of ie: women's hand cracking from being pregnant.
Did the rest of you ladies read this book? are you thinking about picking it up?
Re: What to expect when expecting.
Same here. My mom bought it for my DH so that he knows what to expect and I'm the only one reading it

Supposed to be really funny and good insight to what we're going through. I don't think he read it yet though since he only got it for christmas and xbox games are much more fun lol.
there are a lot of things in there that cause pregnant women to panic. I can't remember the exact scenario (it's been 2.5 years), but I know there is more than one instance of them laying out what a specific symptom could mean, and they immediately jump to "OMG! Call your doctor, you could be dying!", when, while the symptom may be a part of that disease/condition, that condition only happens to .02% of pregnant women...and the book fails to mention that it is rare. (and I know there are many reviews on the book that say the same thing)
I actually don't know a single person working in any part of labor and delivery that recommends that book. Considering how many people I know in the birth industry, that's enough to stay away. There are better books out there.
My SIL said she really liked it, so I bought it. I like it so far, and I think it will get more useful as time goes by and there are more things I may not be aware of. The only thing I don't like about it is how it's laid out with so many boxes and callouts on the pages - makes it a little hard to read, IMO.
My Blog - Taking You Home
I got the book because my mom said I just HAD to have it. Whatever, for $13 I think I have gotten some useful information out of there. I do think however that most everything that is in the book can be found on their website. If you are like me and on the computer every day the book might be a waste.
The only thing that I found that might be somewhat contradictory is that they recommend eating Tums for heartburn. I heard some OBs recommend not taking too many.

I haven't found anything in WTEWYE that contradicts my OB. I take that back- one thing. It recommends not using acne treatments with peroxide and my OB said that a once-daily topical solution is harmless.
I like the book a lot. My OB recommends it, in fact, he gives them out for free at your first visit.
