HELP! Morning, Noon and Niht sickness.

Last night I went to bed hungry due to loss of appetite. Just the thought of food makes me sick, so no matter what my DH offered to go get me I just didn't want it. This morning I woke-up and took my mom to the doctor and the entire way there I was dizzy/light headed, felt extremely nauseated but COULD NOT eat. I haven't told her I'm pregnant yet so I hid my symptoms as best as possible. When I dropped her off I started driving down the road and had to stop twice within a mile due to the sickness. Eventually I made it to my DH's work and sat in his office and ate peanuts for breakfast (and it took me 2 hours to begin to feel a little bit better). Not only do I feel sick but I'm exhausted also. I can't even hold my eyes open. I know it's not healthy to just not eat but I can't, it seems so impossible.

For any of those who have made it through m/s or are currently going through this and have ANY remedies that help, please let me know! I talked to a woman this morning when I was at the store and she said to try Preggy Pops, but then she said they never worked for her. I'm desperate and miserable : (

Thanks in advance!

Re: HELP! Morning, Noon and Niht sickness.

  • I had horrible 24/7 sickness. Although the nausea/vomitting has diminished a little now at almost 11 wks, I still get it sometimes, but not as frequent as a few weeks ago. I had to get a prescription for anti-nausea meds from my doc around 6 wks.

Aside from the meds, the only thing I find helps a little is drinking cold water with fresh lemon juice squeezed into it. And the only thing I could (and mostly, only thing I still can) keep down is carbs (rice, pasta, crackers, etc).

Good luck..i hope your sickness eases soon. It is a really hard thing to deal with.

  • You don't have to suffer. First of all, I would call your Dr. and let them know. When I called mine, they called in a prescription for Phenergan but suggested trying a few over-the-counter remedies first. I have been taking Bonine (like Dramamine) and Unisom for weeks now. Bonine during the day and a Unisom before bed. It has helped a TON.

  • Eating is key. When you let your stomach go completely empty, it tends to make it worse. If you are able to keep peanuts down, keep them close by and eat those. Even if it seems strange to eat nothing but peanuts. At this point, I have upgraded to tapioca pudding, bagels and cream cheese, and ritz bits in peanut butter. At one point I ate nothing but mashed potatoes. Don't force yourself but having food constantly in your belly will help. I have been doing Sea bands and lemonade to take the edge off as well.

  • Just because Preggy Pops didn't work for that lady doesn't mean you shouldn't try them.  And like the PP said, just try to eat what you can and don't let your stomach get totally empty.
  • Sea Bands help relieve my nausea.

  • I was sick 24/7 for the last 8 days and then I took my self off of my PNV and I feel a lil better. Are you taking any PNV yet? If so it might be them. Ask your doctor what he or she thinks and they might change what your taking. I have also heard that there are some really great pnv at target and they are cheap. I also found that gingerale helps a lot and so does saltines. Hope you feel better soon.

  • You're likely feeling much worse at this point because you haven't eaten. You really do need to try to eat, even just a few bites, or drink a Sprite/Gatorade, etc. Try taking half a Unisom at bedtime if it's really bad. 25 mg of B6 twice a day might help. SeaBands help me a little.
  • Thanks everyone. DH is on his way with chicken broth soup (the only thing I've craved) and I've been sipping on Sprite for the past hour. If I begin to feel better we're heading to the store to get everything and anything we feel might help!

  • Preggie Pop (drops) have helped me as long as I keep one in my mouth constantly. They at least help me from throwing up all over myself on drives home. Eating even when I'm not hungry helps. Most of all throwing up if I need to makes me feel 100% better for at least a few hours. Some other items I've found that help are ginger snap cookies, ritz crackers, toast with peanut butter, and lemonade. I just keep eating small amounts of something almost constantly even if I have to force it down. I also eat whatever DH hands me even when I try to skip a mean ... even a couple bites of anything is better than nothing at all.

  • I went through the same thing! It was horrible, i tried Preggie Pops, Ginger, ginger items, saltines, etc. and nothing helped.  My doctor prescribed medicine to help with the nausea, and took me off of my PNV, and suggested I take Flinstones vitamins twice a day. With the medicine my Dr. prescribed, I feel a lot better, but it never completely goes away. I did, by the way find some gummy PNV, and they don't seem to upset my stomach as much as my regular PNV. Also, eating small meals all through out the day helps with the nausea. I suggest you talk to your doctor and see if he can prescribe something for you. Hope this helps!
  • Same thing here.  I'm not vomiting, but feel nauseous all day long, off and on.  Changing my prenatal vitamins helped (I'm taking prenate essentials, an RX vitamin), vit b6 25 mg twice daily, eating whenever I start feeling nauseous, hot lemon water, cold lemon water, ginger ale and cheerios all seem to help me.  and I eat whatever sounds good (chicken soup, pasta, no marinara sauce...).  Keep eating and good luck!

  • Go to your local drugstore and get a pair of seabands.   They have helped a lot of moms-to-be.       Also agree with the other ladies in keeping your tummy full.
  • MORNING SICKNESS IS THE WORSE!!! What helped me is eating every two hours NOT a whole lot just enough for my stomach to feel a little full. For me it is very important not to let myself get a little hungry because thats when the nausea starts. So I start eating right before I know I will get hungry. My doctor gave me Phenergan so I take 1/2 a tablet only twice a day. I drink COLD water, toast with peanut butter, rice, spaghetti, carbs, salads with thousand island. I occasionally drink sprite and a little lemonade. I am 12 weeks pg and I still feel nauseated if I dont take the Phenergan. I do feel a lot better than when I was 6 weeks pregnant. I would get chills and would be gagging with nothing to vomit so I know the feeling! Hang in there it will get better. Oh and also walking a lot makes me feel a lot better!
